Yeah, I was looking at Fumoto earlier, actually. Any recommendations on models? Looks like there are three options. One of the ones with a nipple that I can hook a hose to would be cleaner and GREATLY increase my likelihood of continuing to change my own oil :D

F133S is the one you want.

I was kind of skimming the thread, so someone might have already mentioned this and I missed it. But just so you know, the maintenance reminder is supposed to come on every 5,000 miles. That's for tire rotation and some other minor visual checks. Oil change would be every other time the reminder comes on.

Yes, I'm aware. But I'm also aware that most people with oil consumption issues historically have gone 10,000 miles between oil changes. My car has a history of 5,000 mile changes and no oil consumption. I'm sticking with 5,000 miles.

Canadian Prius don’t have the reminder; we muddle through. Also, especially if you’re reaching maintenance months before miles, the alert is a bit of a lame duck.

Too, I’d second 5k miles (or six months) oil changes.

I'm with you on that. I've always changed the oil sooner than the recommendation and never had an oil burner.

Good to know. I just bought the oil for my first oil change on my 2010 Prius. Was going to do the change this afternoon but I did buy "high mileage" 0w-20. My car has 168,000 kms on it but the oil level has not noticeably dropped in the past 5,000 km and 6 months (also looks pretty clean!).

I will stick to normal synthetic 0W-20 for now.

Yeah, without runaway oil consumption I would never use that stuff. Maybe just donate it, high school automotive shop or something?

Not sure. Yeah I guess if they’re sealed.
