Can’t speak for him but I drive mine 1000 miles a week (5 200 mile round trip commutes) and it’s among the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever had for long distance driving (and I’ve had many). And certainly the most efficient.

Almost all of our driving is short local trips. But we've made several longer trips to western New York (about 500 miles each way) and to Montreal for the jazz festival (about 350 miles each way). Also a few trips to Portland, Maine and to places of Cape Cod (about 100 miles each way).

I am a large bear and my previous car was a Cadillac STS. The STS was pleasant on the highway but with gasoline consumption greater than the gross national product of some less developed countries. I justified this as my "entertainment tax."

The Prius Prime is every bit as comfortable and roomy to drive. However, it's not as quiet within the cabin at highway speeds. Toyota could have made it quieter, but the weight of sound-dampening would have seriously reduced the Prime's range and efficiency.

The Prime, with its many features (displays, leg and head room, adjustable seat, heads-up display, etc.) is every bit as entertaining as the STS but without the "entertainment tax."

It's very comfortable. Especially compared to the Gen 3. Not quite a Lexus, but close to what I experienced in a friend's Lexus. Two years ago, we were doing consecutive 750-mile days and I had no issues at all. So far this trip, our longest was 605 miles.

And here's a first for us. Had not ever stayed in a place with free charging. I've seen more Primes driving through NY, VT, & NH in two days than I see in two years of daily driving in Tampa. But still no actual moose. This was close, though.

    Two things are clear....

    1. You married up.
    2. It's happening!

    Enjoy the trip!
    Thanks for sharing....

Temps and humidity down here are in their usual race to see which one reaches three digits first....so enjoy late August in New England!!

It was 52 with 30 mph winds at the top of Mt. Washington this morning. Made my eyes water and my nose run. 91 degrees when we arrived here in Waterville, ME in late afternoon.

The Prime got just over an indicated 71 mpg today after driving about 147 miles, starting out with a full charge.

Warning sign at the start of the road up Mt. Washington. I found it creepier going up than down, which surprised me. It seemed like there were more blind curves and crests going up. Mildred sat quietly and stared straight ahead most of the time both ways.

My score at the bottom. BTW, the race to the clouds was just over a week ago. Travis Pastrana won again and set a record again. (5:28.67) He averaged 80 mph with a top speed over 130 mph. I don't see how that's possible!!! Pastrana sets new record in race at Mount Washington | Sports | benningtonbanner.com

Tomorrow, we're heading to Acadia NP. Got a ticket to drive up Cadilac Mountain.

Many of us who grew up in such mountain road conditions commonly notice the very different reactions of flatland visitors. While it has been a quarter century since my visit up Mt. Washington, my memory is of the road being nothing special, nothing unusual, there are plenty of similar roads out West. At least your other half was able to keep her eyes open. Or did she?

As for that race, do note that he was allowed twice as much road lane width as you were allowed. ;) It makes quite a difference. Though still not enough for me to want to go anywhere near his speeds.

I would not want to have started down with a full charge. A charging station half way up might. have been nice. :D

Yup! We're used to the Rockies, having lived in Colorado. But wifey still gets the heebie-jeebies on high roads and bridges. There was no oncoming traffic on the way up, so I kept to the middle except on blind curves and crests. No sense hugging the edge unnecessarily. But we met plenty of oncoming traffic while going down. Wife kept wanting me to stop for them. But many of them stopped, so if I'd done that, we might still be up there today. :ROFLMAO:

Dash cam frame grab on the way up, near the top shows that it was a rare gorgeous day up there.

Time for breakfast now and then a 1-1/2 hour drive to Acadia NP. Woo hoo!

A few shots from yesterday's trip to Acadia NP:

    IMG_4251.jpg
We took back roads over there and took the Interstate back. We left the B&B with 13% SOC and got back with 24%.

    IMG_4244.jpeg
"Bah Hahbah" from the top of Cadillac Mountain.

    IMG_4250.jpeg
Looking toward Cadillac Mountain from Otter Cove.

There were many things we'd liked to have stopped to see, but there was usually no place to park. People seemed very patient and it was an absolutely beautiful day, but thick crowds really take the fun out of it for me. Thankfully, the road up Cadillac Mtn. requires a reservation, so it's somewhat metered but even then we almost couldn't find a parking spot.

Edit to add: We're planning on Pemaquid Point Lighthouse today. It doesn't open till 1:00, so that'll give Mildred a chance for some shopping this morning. There's a place called Marden's that has super low prices on cloth that will feed her quilting addiction. LOL!

Looks like the trip was a success. I am glad the weather cooperated for you. 88F heat-wave following the Henri must have suited you just fine. I can't stand this 80F+ heat and humidity. I think they had 96F somewhere inland yesterday. I am sure the top of Cadillac Mountain was a bit cooler though. I only visit there during winter when no one is around. The winterscape is just out of world.

I am heading down to Boston this weekend to take my DW for babysitting duty for our grandkids. But I plan to just drop her off and come right back on the same day. This will be the first long trip on my new 2021 PP Ltd. It will be almost all on I-95 mostly at 65-75mph speed but could hit some slow-moving traffic as I get closer to civilizations. I am going to try testing the new TSS2.0 DRCC, LTA, and new for me on my first Ltd trim BSM features. I have already tried AHB and RSA and found them to be useless. I really can't test the PCS feature unless I try crushing into something. And I still have not had a chance to use RCTA and Parking Assist and S-APGS functions on this car yet. But I don't think I will be needing them driving on I-95. ;)

Oh, I forgot to comment about Marden's. I have not been to Marden's for years. You can find some bargain items sometimes, but you really have to be at lookout mode for you to find just the right item. It is a surplus and closeout outlet store. I have found some hardware and tools cheap there. There is another store called OddLots which I think is now called BigLots? I used to shop, but having been there for a long time either.

    Nice pics!

We just got back from our annual road trip...went to SE Utah again ( Escalane area ). Love that place!

The big difference this year was that my brother wanted to go with and said we could take his nearly new Honda Accord turbo for the trip. We took him up on the offer. And wow...pretty darn nice cruising car. We averaged around 35 MPG overall and got 37 MPG on one tank. Better than I was expecting but certainly not up to Prius standards. (y) However, the comfort level of the Accord was far above our Prius v.

It's certainly warmer than expected, but I can't complain. Blue skies!!! With just enough clouds to give it some texture. Perfect photo weather. Cadillac was pleasant on top. Mt. Washington, was much chillier. I actually had to put up my hood over there because it was giving me an ear ache. Yesterday, though was nice once up on the mountain. Down at the bottom, it felt like Florida.

It's much like Big Lots and Odd Lots, both of which we have gone to in the past. But the fabrics are what Mildred wanted. They are like half the price of regular fabric stores. I think she shopped for well over an hour looking for specific colors and patterns for her next quilt. She walked out very happy with her bargains and very grateful for my industrial grade display of patience. Which she reciprocated while I took a zillion pictures at the lighthouse this afternoon. :D

We've been through there on the way from Grand Canyon to Durango. Wish we'd had time to explore.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse was amazing!!! It was nearly perfect weather, a little warm for the locals, but not bad. The biting flies were out in force, though, but we only got a few bites. I've wanted to take pictures of this lighthouse for decades. The weather was great.

Altogether today, we drove 128.7 miles and got an indicated 66.9 mpg. It was all back roads this time and once again with no opportunity for a wall charge.

The other iconic Main Lighthouse I've always want to see and photograph is only a short detour on our way today from Waterville, ME to tonight's lodgings near Bedford, NH. So we'll swing over to see the Nubble Lighthouse which is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country.

York is very popular for beachgoers. You may have parking problems there too. I have heard the Bass Harbor lighthouse at the Arcadia NP is the most photographed lighthouse in the country... Then again, I don't know how they count the number of photos taken...

If you are on and off I-95 today, I may see you.;)
