No worries... I'll go through more tech training courses on TIS. Pretty sure most I've found so far were PowerPoint presentations, but I am getting better finding stuff on the site. Went through all descriptions, diagrams, inspection procedures, etc. for every DTC showing up...

Man talk about drinking from a fire hydrant!! There's so many things I've learned just through skimming these materials while downloading stuff for more thorough review later my brain is about to burst.

I definitely have a greater appreciation for skilled mechanics, as these manuals are so meticulously detailed one seemingly simple problem can be caused by a half-dozen or more potential issues. Suppose that's the value of experience... much better at playing the odds on the source of the problem instead of going through every potential cause of the problem.

    1. Reading Repair Manual on Emission Control System (EC section) and see references to the "Intelligent Tester." Can the Intelligent Tester perform functions Techstream is incapable of completing?

    2. In section 3: Fuel and EVAP System (found entire article - Toyota Hybrid System Diagnosis - Course 072) Read about the "vacuum test method" to detect leaks in the EVAP system. Can I assume this is a last resort measure since I do not have the appropriate vacuum to perform the test?

    3. Page 3-15 of the same article mentions, "DTCs P0441 (currently showing) are recorded by the ECM when evaporative emissions components do not perform as expected... ECM turns EVAP (Purge) VSV ON with the CCV ON and closed. ECM checks Purge Value performance... [and] if pressure does not drop more than 20 mm Hg, the EVAP VSV is judged to be stuck open."
      - I've read several references elsewhere to Live/Active tests on Techstream. Can this test be performed using Techstream or is it a combined manual/Techstream or other process?
    Thank you!

Just think of it as a hand-held version of Techstream that is more compact and convenient. Where they call for using the Intelligent Tester, you should be able to do the same thing in Techstream

Yet another reason, as you stated, to not let the Prius gas level get too low. "Cause the engine to misfire, creating an excessive load on the three-way catalytic converter."
