Okay so I found this damage while investigating why my defroster wasn’t working. I want to replace the scorched plastic tab connector, and reattach the tab to the window. Has anyone done this before?

there has to be a short somewhere or something else is wrong, otherwise the connector wouldn't be scorched /
just replacing it is asking for trouble /

    Not necessarily.
The most common failure is caused by the connection point being broken.
IF it was only partially damaged so that became a point of high resistance............excessive heat at that point might result.

I suggest that he check with an auto glass shop or two.
