Stuck with a P2195 error code

    Long time PriusChat lurker, but first post. About a month ago, my check engine light came on and is throwing a P2195 error code. I have read multiple threads on this website and elsewhere, stating that it could be the O2 sensors or the air/fuel ratio sensor, and to check those. However, I do not know how.

    I am not a mechanic by any means, but am trying to learn. I cannot find any meaningful pictures or diagrams on where the O2 sensors or AF sensors are, much less how to test them.

    To answer the questions that tend to be asked first, while reading similar threads:
    I have not messed with any wiring, full stop.
    The car has around 240k miles on it.
    I have not checked any sensors. I do not know where they are. Many posts simply say "check the voltage on your O2 sensors" and I feel like the only person who doesnt know their location.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated, either directly or linking to other posts where this question has been answered in a comprehensive fashion. I would maybe only ask that you explain things at a low level, I am not very experienced. Thank you!

    :) That's a very common feeling when you're trying to learn. You are showing up with two strong advantages: (1) you recognize that you are trying to learn, and (2) you've started to identify what information you're going to need.

    On this wiki page that Elektroingenieur kindly put together, you will find information on various ways you can have access to the Toyota manuals for the car.

    The specific information on where the sensors are and how you can test them will be in the Repair Manual (that's the RM tab on a TIS web page). That will give you complete information for access and testing, but it might still feel as if it is assuming you know too much. That's because there is another manual, the New Car Features Manual (the NCF tab on the same page) that contains all of the "these are the parts, what they're for, what they do, how they do it" background. Sections in the Repair Manual can be written from an assumption that you've already boned up on that.

    How are you searching? Certainly YouTube is not as authoritative as the official source, but for someone such as myself who doesn't make a living turning wrenches, it is a good place to start and is sometimes all I need. Sometimes it's better to hear about problems that come up when you try to do something without using Toyota's Special Service Tools, that's what I find.
