The red triangle of death has gone from intermittent to permanent, yet my 2009 Prius is driving well.
The good news is that despite getting codes run several times with no problem located, now, a code points to a battery disconnect which has been traced to wires behind my glove compartment that have been nibbled by a mouse.
Choices: Toyota dealer wants me to pay for 3 hrs of exploration (would cover 1-8 hrs) which could yield a single wire or need for a whole new harness ($2000 plus, if i understand). Am thinking of taking it to another mechanic to see what he can do but wonder if electric problems are best done at Toyota dealers?
Or could I put a sticker over the triangle and drive away (can't turn off the triangle tho mechanic tried 3x)? I need to go on a long road trip and would like to take care of things as much as possible so I don't get stranded.
    Would appreciate feedback and suggestions.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Can you post the retrieved OBD2 code(s) (DTCs) here for additional guidance?

start by asking the mech to repair the damaged wire. have you inspected for rodents?

The most logical thing would be to repair the damage to the wires. Clear the codes and see if that is indeed is all you need to do.

Definitely would not recommend just taping over the warning light. It warns of hundreds of conditions and some of those you will definitely want to know about.
