Numbers for both Prime really screw up the narrative. They already far exceed what antagonists had claimed would happen for all of 2021. We still have an entire quarter remaining and end-of-year usually stirs a buying frenzy on tax-credit opportunity. It would be great if Toyota was able to capitalize on it... especially knowing there will not be a Toyotathon this year and that detail of bZ4X will further reinforce Toyota's slow, but steady growth of plug-in production.

The RAV4 Prime numbers are way up, due to T making so few available last year. But can you imagine what the sales numbers could be if T could meet the actual demand? Might be 6 to 10 times that cummulative number.

They'd be a lot better without dealers marking them up $7,000-$8,000.

They only do that because there's enough idiots out there to buy them way over the sticker. But yes, sad. The dealer model will go away, eventually.

There are a lot of people with a lot more money than I have judging by all the $90,000+ Teslas and $50,000+ trucks and SUVs I see driving around. Although I suspect I actually have more money, but a savings account large enough that if I were laid off today I wouldn't be in financial trouble for three years.

Family needs a larger vehicle instead of just two Priuses. Even the Sienna is being marked up by dealers right now. I'm not paying.

My 2019 STD Rng Plus Tesla Model 3 cost $24,000 after trade in of our Prius Prime. There are a lot of expensive ICE vehicles cost way more than my Tesla … and then buying it again in fuel and repairs.

What does "after trade in of our Prius Prime" mean? That's not free money. If you got what I got for my Prime, that's another $20,000.

What rumor are you referring to? That there are people who spend $50,000 or more on Teslas? Are you really disputing that?

Your statement was $90,000 Teslas. That is hyperbole. Yes, you can find $90,000 Teslas, but there are a lot more $40-$50,000 Teslas.

I read in the PP thread that CA Toyota dealers are now marking up Prius Prime with a $5K premium while the Toyota rebates dwindle to $750 from what was $5000 rebate just a few months ago. Only idiots are buying a car right now. So far, I am on my 3rd Prius Prime. The last one was purchased in July while the Toyota rebates were still $5500. I have netted over $7000 gain for those three PPs (including the hypothetical sale of my current 2021 PP Ltd right now).

It was depreciating and no longer of use. Trade in saved sales tax too. Kinda nonsense posting by you as I avoided a salvage cost.

Yours. No source cited from something pulled out of your imagination.

Do your own research with a free Tesla account instead of this silly poster. Do your own original search for facts and data from Tesla.

Trade in meant you didn't have to pay sales tax on your Tesla? I've never heard of that.

All cars depreciate. Unless your PP had zero value, it wasn't "free" money towards a Tesla. Whatever you received for the PP has to be included in the cost of acquiring the Tesla to make a proper accounting of your net cost.

Cash prices direct from Tesla.com right now. Tax and license fees direct from California's DMV. Image because Prius Chat doesn't support proper BBCode tables

Don't be tricked by Tesla's listing price after their calculated fuel savings and incentives.

They are marking up everything, as is just about every other manufacturer of everything. I've been casually looking for a Sienna and several dealerships have been pretty cocky on the phone when they call me in response to a request for a quote through Costco. They quote a price as much as 15% over MSRP and tell me quite matter-of-factly that there are more buyers than cars so you have to pay if you want a car.

That's an edited excerpt of my statement. Do you work for CNN by any chance?

    My complete statement was:

The only way that sentence can be falsified is to show that there aren't $90,000+ Teslas driving around, or that I didn't see any.

Yeah, what a drastic change in just 3 months' time. I am not surprised that new car sales are down. Low supply is one thing, but price gauging is not helping. I will never pay mark-up on a new car. If I did not net gain on the PP, I would not have purchased any of them. Of course, some people have money to burn.

I, too, am a cheapskate ;) It's ok. Even if I had a billion dollars I would still be doing spreadsheets to calculate cost/benefit of various cars when it comes to operating costs per mile, insurance, incentives, fuel, and maintenance.

Yes using a free Tesla account:
    1. Configure and cost of a new Tesla.
    2. Use their “trade in” option to propose a trade in vehicle.
    3. Survey their used Tesla vehicles to see if one meets your requirements.
The specifics are what you find.
