    WOW. That's a robbery. Are people really paying a $5K mark up for PP especially with only a $750 rebate? I have not seen any 2022 PP in our nearby Toyota dealers, but I am so glad I did purchase the last 2021 PP they had in their lot 3 months ago at MSRP ($35,254) - $500 dealer discount and - $5500 Toyota Cashback plus $1000 state incentive no documentation fee.

    3 months ago seems like a different time in buying new (and used) vehicles. Good on ya for timing your purchase in your favor.

    Just want to repeat what I did here when I did my 21 PP purchase.
    I had no plans of upgrading from my 2015 Gen3 or "turd gen" family car. Was gonna ride it into sunset until wheels fall off.
    Had like 35k miles. No problems whatsoever. as I was basically to a "T" following @Mendel Leisk notorious for "garage queen" meticulously upkept BEAST.

    First, the Gen3 I installed a engine heater. As in the northeast, we get freezing. AND and a BIG AND,
    the car is mostly used for running the kids to school (never got to temp, even in summer),
    along with weekly or bi-weekly trips to store/outings/restaurants/etc.
    And the dreaded "death rattle" always rattled my bones. Not that is was happening, but what and if and when.
    Yes could have installed catch can, egr/intake clean, but/...well still. wasnt willing to do it. Always haunted me.

    Ok, now to Gen4. Prius. Meh. No disrespect but no reason to upgrade for that.
    Then PRIME? but 4 seater. We have 4 kids (3 living at home) No issues taking 2 cars (2 prii)
    But ehh, let it pass.

    Then comes the 5 seater (why in the world did they ever do that....come on Toyo!) but anyway,
    @Salamander_King was a great poster on the deals, along with a few great others.
    And I figure, 25+ EV miles....come on.......hit me!

    Then along came the market.....hmmm
    cArVoNkA offered a agreeable amount...searched/called a bit around. Found what the other half agreed upon and BAMM!
    Got the 21 Prius Prime.
    $5500 cb is a great deal in itself.
    $4500 fed deal is awesome.
    carvonka offer....done deal.

    So upgrading from a 2015 Gen3 to a 2021 Prius Prime (brand spanking new) for about $4k out of pocket
    6 year newer car and now about 90%+ on EV (not to mention I can charge free a few blocks away!!!!)
    Cannot be beat.

    Yes very glad that I did TOO!

    Was gonna go for my "c" upgrade also, but held off. may just wait until the cool down and Gen5 or Toyoda releases a true EV
    Still love the "c".... in my scenario, perfect car for now. Prime or small batt EV would be better (3mi to work, lol)

    Yeah, back in 2017, I was in the same boat as you are. I then had 2.5 years old 2015 Gen3 Two purchased new on 0% APR with some Toyota rebate and dealers discount at OTD price of ~$22K. I had the car just serviced for the 30K miles with transaxle fluid change and was planning to keep the car for a long time. Then came ALL NEW Prius Prime the first year model. I just had to test drive it to see what it would be like. That's when my dealer gave me an offer I could not refuse. After discount, rebate, and tax credit, the 2017 PP came out to be OTD price of ~$18K. That's ~$4K cheaper than the 2015 Prius Two.

    I then swapped 3 years old 2017PP Premium to 2020 PP LE. I had to pay ~$1000 out of pocket for again OTD price of ~$18K (after counting all incentives and tax credit), but I was due for a new set of tires and maybe more pricier maintenance services on 2017PP, so it was a wash. Then came the pandemic last year, my 2020 PP was not being driven, so I sold it for a net gain of ~$4000. But this year, needing a commuter again, I was shopping for my next daily driver. I really wanted to switch to a BEV, but by the time I finally decided the next purchase, all the discounts on the BEVs were gone. I ended up picking up the last 2021 PP left in the local Toyota dealer's lot 3 months ago. The final price of the 2021 PP Ltd after expected $4500 tax credit next year, will be ~$23.5K. Not sure how long I will be keeping this car, but I am quite sure that if and when I decide to sell it again, i will have some net gain. No regret in getting PP again for now. Only regret is that I did not swap my 2017 PP to 2018 PP and swap that to 2019PP.

    Honestly, I do not think anyone can beat on the upswap deals you have done on PP's even the Gen3
    Amazing!

    As I mentioned, even paying full sticker for a Prime would be worth it to many.
    (now dealer markup,, sh....t...they can suck it!)

    I don't see the Uber incentive having been extended past 10/4/2021 yet - if anyone happens upon a new date (I think they updated one should go through January 2022 based on past incentive schedules), please post here. Trying to get a family member into a Prime for a deal (hah - MSRP!)

    At least for Greater NY region, it has been extended to 11/01/2021. Uber rebate has been regional like all the other offers by Toyota. I have never seen it listed in New England Region.

    Edit: I just checked with LA and SB zip, and no, there is no Uber discount offer right now. But I am seeing $1500 cashback unlike the $750 cashback that was stated earlier in the comment from one of the CA Toyota dealer.

    Does anyone know how the new EV tax credit bill will affect the Prius Prime? Is it retroactive?

    There is no bill yet. It needs to be passed and signed into law, and then you still need to take into account the effective date. Will that happen prior to 1/1/2022? Maybe. Maybe not.
    Too soon to speculate. Things keep changing. Maybe the federal EV tax credit will be lower for PHEVs. If all of these speculative changes potentially impact your purchase decision - you should find a 2022 Prius Prime in stock and purchase now.

    "bird in the hand..." and all that
    Plus - you get to claim the EV ($4502 for a PP currently) credit for 2021 taxes, which you can file in a matter of months. If you purchase after 1/1/2022 and are claiming whatever tax credit is available at that time - you can't get it until 2023 (unless you modify your tax withholdings and get a bit more $ in your paycheck, or similar)

    I read that it might be a point of sale rebate so you won't have to wait till the next year to get it. But like you said, bill is not finalized yet so we'll have to just wait and see.

    It seems like the bill is eliminating PHEVs from receiving any federal tax credits. The required battery size to qualify is over 2x the size of my Rav4 Prime's battery. So it is highly unlikely for any PHEVs to qualify. What I haven't been able to clarify, is if this bill will be replacing the current EV credit legislation completely - I believe it will modify that section "IRC 30d" and basically eliminate PHEVs from qualifying.
    IMO that will kill the current pricing of Primes - where you can get a better deal on a Prime vs a hybrid Toyota, after rebates and credits. Toyota will need to lower USA MSRPs or see sales really drop for Primes.

    If you want/need a Prime, buy before 12/31/2021 seems to be the safest way to ensure a good price.

    There might be a phase in period in regards to the battery size minimum so that current eligible PHEVs aren't abruptly cut off. If what I've read comes to pass, the Prius Prime will be eligible for a year or two with a $3000 credit.

    It was mentioned in this thread on the proposed law.
    $100,000 income and $40,000 sales-price limit on EV tax credit | PriusChat
    If that proposal still holds true in the bills, the EV credit amount will be figured under the current law's method for 2022. In 2023, the credit is changed to a base amount of $4000 for cars with a minimum 7kWh battery. That minimum capacity increases to 10kWh in 2024.

    Since no bill has passed both houses yet, i don't see anything happening to disqualify cars that can currently get the credit in 2022.

    It did seem weird that there'd be a hard stop for the current credit structure, disallowing all PHEVs without any warning would upset customers and manufacturers. We shall see what gets passed and makes it into law...!

    If you can actually get a Prime for MSRP it’s a true no brainer. You could immediately sell for a minimum $7k profit after tax rebate
