I tried to explain it in Post #131. The new and old part numbers only refer to the ECU in the various models.

There's only one part number for both the old and new evap valve.

Actually 89660-47402 is an older ECU flash part number. The new number is 89660-47405 as of last fall/winter. It is also the same flash as T-SB-0027-16 so I think you'll be pretty fully updated.

The ECU numbers are not at issue on the TSB. Only the evap valve needs replacement, Apparently the over pressure destroys the evap valve. If the hoses are not blown off, the TSB does not apply.

I'm almost 100% sure there is an updated T-SB for this. I guess at this point not knowing how the NHTSA site works the best bet is to let the dealer do the repair as in their system. If @gromittoo you'd like to confirm I think a subscription to Techinfo would help you find what is applicable to your car....

You are confusing the ECU part numbers on page 3 of the TSB with the Calibration ID numbers of the Calibration Information chart on the upper part of the same page.

Well it is listed in the T--SB I reference as an old ECU part number, so we can confirm the T--SB @ChapmanF posted is not the latest...

EDIT-. I just can't scan it and post it right now. (My computer is being non-cooperative).

    Mine is T-SB-0041-15.

    It clearly notes.

The information contained in this bulletin superseded SB No. T-SB-205-11.

. Applicability has been updated to include 2012-2013 model year Prius and Prius v vehicles.

Service Bulletin No. T-SB-0205-11 is Obsolete and any printed versions should be discarded.

Actually we are kind of fretting about nothing if I can put it that way. Having flashed ours the program makes available only the latest T--SB that is current so there is no worry @gromittoo you should get the latest flash available.

(It is set up for you to download the flash file through the T--SB as a hyperlink, and all expired/old T-SBs aren't readily available)...

Just an FYI the last two digits are the year it was released, so 2015 for -15, and the ones I found towards the end of last year are -16 for 2016...l

I wouldn't be worried at all. I still have the original calibration ID 34725000 in my ECU. As the condition of blown off hoses has not exhibited itself, as per the T-SB, if the hoses have not come off, there is no need to do anything.

The condition might occur in a "perfect storm" situation in particular ECU's but not all listed. I'm sure Toyota keeps statistics on the ones needing the software update, but that's kept as their proprietary trade secret.

It took 100k miles for the situation to manifest itself in grom's cat.

The PDF that I linked to in #105 is T-SB-0041-15 dated 30 June 2015 straight from NHTSA, and obsoletes the earlier one from 2011.

If you do end up confirming that there is a newer TSB on this issue than that one, which I don't see that you've done yet, please post the document number and date, even if you aren't able to provide a link for some reason.

I'm in agreement with you, Chap. I see no superseded T-SB. If there was one, it would just include additional vehicles as did the one dated 30 June 2015.

I wish I had a Techstream/TIS subscription, but I don't otherwise I'd happily try to find it, and would have already. Last night I had a family argument so that took up a lot of my energy. Also when I tried to scan the page pertinent to my reasoning it got lost in some folder I didn't know where. I did find it this morning but as the argument continued I did not post it yet. I'll go post it just after I finish my cereal and cup of milk. (Usually I'd be driving my son to school about now but I'm so furious that I don't want to drive him, as well as unsafely).

Am I right about this: all the hoses that could blow off the intake manifold, blew off? Or at least, that's what the dealership's saying?

Sounds like there was a sudden/massive "pressure event" in the intake manifold.

It could have had something to do with the cleaning of the intake manifold. That's why I would have installed the new updated one.

    Here's page 3 of T-SB-0027-16 dated March 31, 2016, although it lists 2012 v only....

    "PREVIOUS"- 89660-47400, 89660-47401, 89660-47402, 89660-47403, 89660-47404
    "NEW"- 89660-47405

Those are ECU part numbers, it has nothing to do with the evap valve or the software update ID number.

I do know that the software was updated on my 2012 Prius v in a subsequently performed recall.

This number is short two digits to be a calibration ID I'm afraid. (Just realized it is a completely different #).

Different TSB different issue. That one is for a P0401 and rattle after cold soak.

To the best of my knowledge, T-SB-0041-15 dated 30 June 2015 remains the latest and current TSB concerning "purge VSV/PCV line separation from the throttle body housing."

On a later page of your T-SB-0027-16, you see that for that condition, an ECM update to calibration 34725500 is needed (for Prius v).

Per T-SB-0041-15, you only need calibration 34725200 or later (for Prius v) to address the blows-hoses-off-manifold issue.

Of course if you have the P0401 cold soak issue and you update to 34725500 to fix that, naturally that will also include the fix for the hose-blowing issue.

You'll see that both TSBs explicitly say not to replace the ECM really. The ECM part numbers they show are the ones that came with the specified firmware calibration in the box. When applying the TSB, they keep the same ECM you've already got, and just update the firmware.

I'm not sure if it's a translation issue from Japanese to English, or what exactly, but those are the program/flash IDs. I think Toyota got wise as to the error in terminology because at the bottom:

    "NOTE:

The ECM (PCM) should NOT be replaced as part of the repair procedure."

Those are the calibration IDs. (Please trust me, I flashed the 89660-47405).

Calibration IDs are eight digits, no dash. You find them on page 5 "Calibration Information" of the TSB you posted (and on page 3 "Calibration Information" of the TSB I posted).

In a Techstream health check, you will see the calibration IDs next to the ECUs that have them.
