I was looking around the internet to see if there was an alternative for a hybrid battery, cheaper but still good, aside from using revived modules which are going to fail in a short period of time, or to buy a brand new battery from Toyota, which is a scam honestly, way too expensive considering how long the Prius has been around, i don't see any logical reason for the price to stay that high even after all these years.

    I found this video

It seems like these packs are way easier to install, and based on the tests done in the video, it seems like these are really going to increase MPG significantly due to these modules having more capacity and having a more stable voltage while being discharged, the modules are significantly less heavy too. Have any of you here tried these out yet? they seem to be really new, made by Dr. Prius after 7 years of testing, that's what they say on their website Toyota hybrid battery upgrade pack – NexPower Energy (projectlithium.com)

They also have this video about how to install the new modules

I’d like to hear more about this from those who have the lithium hybrid battery installed already. My hybrid battery will need reviving or replacement soon.

I am in the same boat. My 2010 Prius needs a new battery real soon. I looked at the website for the battery looks very interesting but I would like to hear from some people on Priuschat who have installed the battery.

I have had the battery for about a year and honestly there is no better battery, I do not care what anyone else says on here about another company is better because it is not.

Ask anyone who knows me on here I used to say green bean batteries were good only because of their lifetime warranty.

You will be happy you went with the Lithium battery.

Thank you for your input. I will most likely wait until I get a degraded battery code but I suspect it will be soon. I will at that point go with the lithium battery.

How do you know that your hybrid battery is leaving you soon? do you have a scanner to watch the voltage difference and resistance?

Good to hear you are happy with it. How many miles since you installed the lithium battery and did your mpg improve? How’s the temperature of the battery during summer traffic? I’m in a warm place so heat is a concern. Thanks

I have not bought a scanner yet do you recommend Dr. Prius? I have scanners but they do not watch the voltages for the battery pack.

I live in tje high desert and it can get very hot over 100F

The pack has never overheated and temps stay in the normal range.

I have torture tested it in ways I can not speak of.

I just checked the project lithium website for a hybrid battery replacement. They are currently sold out of Prius gen 2 and 3 batteries. Anyone know when the next shipment will be available or how to contact them about it?
    Thanks

You need to ask: 'Does anyone have experience with lifespan that approaches that of the OEM traction batteries?' Unfortunately, I think nobody does.

Temperature is a very real issue for lifespan of LFP. If you are worried about high temperature affecting NiMH life, be very afraid for LFP. In the absence of a guarantee and credible specs, buyer beware: NexPower NexCell LiFePo Battery Upgrade | Page 2 | PriusChat

Yes, I understand it’s a not proven replacement and the Prius system wasn’t designed for lithium. NPB battery replacements won’t be available till early next year 2022 so I’m just checking and researching alternatives. I probably have to replace my 3 weaker modules and do Prolong to buy more time till the supply chain improves.

What do you mean with ''do Prolong to buy more time''?

These batteries have been tested and they get less hot than OEAM ones, at least that it was showed in the video. Also these modules have a BMS to control the charge rate and keep the modules balanced.

I plan to use the Prolong battery reconditioning system on my oem hybrid battery pack to revive my battery till I can get a new replacement. I’m getting the P0A80 code. I think there aren’t any new packs available because of the shipping delays. Next shipment for NPB is next year according to their website and Project lithium is sold out.

That is a charger of some kind? if it is may you share the link from where you got it? i think i might need to do that too soon. Thank you very much.

I see, indeed the situation is quite difficult now with shipping delays, a guy here in Puerto Rico [Dr Prius Puerto Rico, Morovis] that specializes on repairing / replacing Priuses hybrid batteries is having issues with supplies too. I guess you could maybe try by buying a used module from Ebay or Amazon, it might be better than reviving several times a bad module. Also which one would you get, New Prius Batteries or Project Lithium Prius batteries?

    Check out hybridautomotive.com

I’m not sure what replacement pack I would get. I’m still researching and just trying to keep my car running. I probably will need to replace a few modules to improve my hybrid battery health and then do the reconditioning.

If that is your only car it must be difficult to be in that situation, specially if you don't work from home. Well then, hope everything goes well, hopefully supplies will be available soon. Thank you very much.

Also these chargers are quite expensive, i think this one is a better option
