you're smart to do your due diligence. the biggest problem with these reconditioning companies is warranty follow up, especially when they won't come out, and have no location you can drive to with smith and wesson.

 

What seems to be the current issue, and do you have any OBD2 codes worth posting here?

Looked at the prices they are charging for USED batteries, best to go with the new OEM or the new aftermarket NiMH / Lithium options.

in the youtube comments this one is great but one guy's failed a month after the 2 year warranty. (looks like they might be designed to just get you past the warranty, but that is the only case that I have seen. This one is $1950

These ones have great reviews, but they are sold out until late january next year and always sell out when the new shipments come in. this one is $1600 (no tax and you keep your old cells to do as you please)

To get an OEM one look around on the toyota parts department for dealerships in your area. some have their online stores selling the hybrid battery. Or call around the different dealerships. They range between $1600-2250 after your core is returned

post a review on which one you decide and any tips as I will be going through this in the future (still original hv battery)

there are a few threads here on companies like greenbean. they seem to get pretty good reviews, but i haven't followed closely.
one to watch out for is falcon, iirc.

Odd, thought retail sales started about a year ago, and general beta testing was still under 2 years ago.

 

Just to clarify, those 'cells' (modules) are not new, they are "USED". Please don't waste 1750 on a USED battery.

Cole is right. I have no problem 100% vouching for his company. Cole and his crew are knowledgeable, honest, and hard-working.

He's put the time effort and capital investment into making a great company.

I visited his shop last year out in California and help link him up with some of my contacts on the industry. He and I have known each other for years and he was working on expanding his business. The reality is though, Cole already has a breadth and depth of knowledge on many hybrids. He does batteries for just about everything. Certainly more than I have dealt with.

His dedication and tenacity to provide a good product to his customers is far above the level I see from other companies. More of them should emulate him as far as I'm concerned.

How does one know if a 14-15 yr old Gen2's refurbished battery can still hold a charge well?
My 2007's green battery just looks at a mild upwards grade and immediately turns purple. Once going up the hill, it is running only on the gas motor and holding up the trucks.
It still can charge into the green zone and is not throwing Codes, which seems to be the standard for a refurbished hybrid battery. I just dont want to drop one in and find out it is just as bad as my old one, but not covered under warranty because it is not throwing codes.
