One similar to recommended in manual something like 48AH 12V I don't know the demensions of the gen 1. A marine battery could work. .it's a 12V system artery that likes to be near discharged . A 12V life po battery could work with the charge circuit inside correct case for mount .

I wouldn't worry too much about the energy display, and if you wanted to anyway, that display is about the traction battery, not the 12 volt battery.

 

That would be an out-of-spec reading for a pair of modules in the traction battery, the 17th pair counting from the ECU end.

 

No these cottage industries have popped up all over place. A battery gets replaced not refrigerated not recharged. These aren't D batteries in a prison radio. You got nothing in car spend the 1600 and have something or buy a Yaris w no HV it's that simple . Use mo gas in gas car . Maybe . I put a new Toyoda battery in my 400 Prius AND? It's what ya do.

Reconditioning restores some of the battery's original amp hours, which can help increase the cars power and gas milage, but will not fix cells that are failing. Replacing bad cells is the cheapest option, but my experience is this repair only last from a few months to a couple of years at best.

If it's the original battery pack and you don't have any current battery related engine codes, just keep driving it. When the time comes the best option is to replace with a new Toyota pack. With regular maintenance, the car should run for another ten years.

There's also many rebuilt after market options, but these usually are only as good as their warranty, up to three years. Then you're stuck with a pack you can't exchange as a core (worth about $1,000) for a new Toyota pack in the future.

 

The trick to returning a green tech or one of the cottage industry batteries to the dealer as a core is very simple any stickers that have been applied to the outer case of the battery next to the Toyota stickers they'll say green tech or whatever You heat them with the heat gun and you remove those stickers The sticker at the edge of the screw that says green tech that if you undo the 10 mm screw and take the top case off it ruins that sticker You want to remove that sticker possibly with your heat gun too now your green tech battery is back to the original Toyota condition it has the Toyota stickers on the cover and everything is good now that battery with the relays removed from the front the 3 10 mm screws that house the relay and the battery ECU You will keep that front end piece of metal that houses the orange plug or switch the two relays and the battery ECU that stays with you or you'll be taking it off at the Toyota dealer and taking it with you because your new battery will not come with that I have pictures I can't post them here Don't even care why but that's how that will go My green tech battery I took the stickers off and the Toyota dealer said he would take it He didn't even know I had removed the stickers I gave him my original Toyota battery because it was the older of everything I have the green tech here to play with if I desire I probably won't I'll get another factory battery to use as my test battery so when I play with these numerous Gen 2's I know I have a good battery I can drop right in it and see what it is yeah it might be an expensive test module 1600 bucks but I own it and I don't have to take the good one out of my daily driver every time I want to fool with another one batteries are just expensive That's the way it's going to go for the next few years no matter or I can just hop in my Yaris 1NZ gas car and ride that till the tires fall off it's just choices

If the silver medal of the outer case has been painted green pink or blue you will need to get the outer case off another battery it cost a whopping $5 at the junkyard or you could try removing it with a paint remover but why bother pay the $5 for a case cover from the junkyard or better yet you can buy complete core batteries from my salvage yard in Durham North Carolina for about 80 bucks that let you take all of them green tech Toyota original anything they got so that's another way to get a cord just go to a junkyard ask for a Gen 2 battery that's been returned off of them $85 for it and they'll hand it to you usually now you have a battery for trade in that cost you $85 My trade-in was worth $1,300 and some change

I recommend you just get a new battery from toyota if you plan to keep the car another 10 years, and why wouldn't you want it for another 10 years? It is always better for the environment to keep a car going than build a new one.

 

If the code is cleared and doesn't come back, then it should be okay. The car will occasionally go through a charging cycle to rebalance the main battery on its own.

 

I'd love to find a quality example of a gen1 coupe I think 03 is last of em in USA. Can't find anything or I'm 10 min late

It was a four door sedan. Nice looking car. I was quite fond of mine. But the later hatch is a lot more versatile.
