I had no swelling. Your doing 30 times more than I did on both my knees.

Your knee is trying to tell you something.

Patience…….it’s not a marathon. The most important thing is not to piss your knee off.

Don’t take any more pain pills at all for a few days see how pissed off it really is.

Incumbent bike is your best bet at this point. Keep knee moving with no weight on it.

    Good luck.

I know lots of people who had knee replacements. Never heard of one without swelling before. And my swelling is about 90% gone with the PT people saying I'm right on schedule. (And it never did swell as much as my broken wrist did after they screwed in a titanium plate. That sucker doubled in size.)

I haven't needed a pain pill in about a month. It only hurts if I get it into a bad position while sleeping plus when I do two of the therapies that stretch it the most.

I asked, but insurance wouldn't cover it and the price difference was way beyond my modest means. :D

Hasn't a bunch of the campaign against the tyranny of Obamacare taken the form of getting waivers approved to sell "insurance" that covers less?

... sucked really bad!!! Can't believe how much my rates went up. At least we did get to keep our doctor.

Ick. Don't remind me. This article tells how much and why.

Still, with Medicare and out Plan F gap policies, neither of our knee replacements cost us anything out of pocket. (We got Plan F just before they dropped it.)

Meanwhile, the knee is still kinda stiff, but not too bad. Still a little swollen, but at least I can see my kneecap ... sorta. I can almost get it straight. Long ways to go on the bending part.

Well, to be fair, in the top picture, the bumps are kind of tucked away. In the bottom one, the bump is still almost totally hidden in the swelling. I'm sure there are examples worse than mine but they are pronounced enough that the surgeon's first comment when he saw my knees was about the O-S. :)

OK. Not you made me curious. I can only think of one word. "Oops." I heard that alarming word once while under a local.

I was thinking of the Pancake-Friendly version of ‘Oscar-Sierra.’

I was in the field with a wild-eyed, feminist, oceanographer once and we pulled an instrument out of the surf zone that I diagnosed as being “Tango Uniform.”
    She demanded an immediate explanation.

I gave her my best innocent smile and said……”Toes Up.”

Sometimes…..ONLY sometimes, I’m agile enough to stay out of my own way. :D

The image you have just brought vividly to my mind is straight from the entertainingly bad (2.4 on IMDB) 2010: Moby Dick, in which a marine biologist ("call me Michelle") is played by Renée O'Connor.

True dat! Years ago, my wife and I were at the Cedar Point amusement park. They had a ride that took you straight up in a cage, then you went out over empty space, then they dropped you about 200 feet. At the bottom, the tracks curved to put you on your back and slowed you to a stop. Hopefully. The end of the track was a few feet from the chain link fence we were passing and I noticed one of the limit switches there. It was a brand called "Micro Switch." I pointed at it and told my wife, "We use those in the can factory. I have to replace one almost every day." At that point, my trust in those rides went from low to non-existant.

Boy do we digress!! Fun, ain't it. :D

Back on topic: the rehab center called today. My first visit there is set for next Tuesday. We'll see what new ways of self flagellation they can come up with.

'Nuther little update. I'm two days shy of 12 weeks post op.

PT is still nearly full time. Getting three outpatient sessions a week now. And trying to do three sessions a day at home.

This morning they measured an extension of -2º. She said I have two more degrees to go. I didn't expect to have a negative number already since it was still pretty far from straight just last week. Flexing is also continuing to show improvement.

It still often feels kind of like I managed to slide a one foot long section of bicycle inner tube up over my knee. But the feeling of pressure and stiffness is steadily improving. Lots of massage and elevation.

Main issues now are that, since I'm not hobbled, people think I'm done with PT and have all the time available that I used to have. Plus, I went back to work last week. That really puts some pressure on me sometimes to make sure I get my PT done. I have decided it need to put my foot down more often and tell people I'm sorry, but I HAVE to goo do my therapy. But that's a good problem -- I'm not so crippled anymore and can walk normally even though I can't lock my knee or put on my left shoe without a minor struggle.
