It says it's not compatible with fuel and oil in the description.

Maybe not for use as a liquid fuel or oil line, but silicone would not be fine for oil vapor.

Pretty pricey though, I bought some 3/8 inch OD aluminum tubing and bent it to make my own u-tube and 90 degree fittings. In the end, I used the AN 180 degree fitting, but there is a 90 degree aluminum tube off of the PCV valve out of my catch can.

My catch can is in the ideal location in the space freed by the removal of the OEM air filter box and replaced it with the HPS short arm air intake with the K&N air filter.

    occ installed Prius V 001.jpg

I can remove the cup without disassembling it with any tools. All I have to do is to grab it and twist it off. Replacement is just as easy.

I like this location better. I am uncomfortable in taking up the space near the left Headlight. I put a lot of miles on the car while Ubering, and I go through Headlamps quite often. I keep spare bulbs in the foam tray in the back, and I change the bulb as soon as I notice one is burned out. I can change a headlamp bulb by "braille" method by now. Having the OCC in the way of the left headlamp was not something I liked doing.

I hope to install the OCC I bought tomorrow (my seasonal UPS job only gives me Sunday off). I need to buy hoses, and was hoping to find clear hoses.
    1) Is the correct size of the hose at the PCV 3/8 inch?
    2) What is the size at the IM end (I know it is bigger)?

I will buy a brass hose barb fitting to make the connection between the larger IM hose, and the smaller hose going to the output of the OCC.

Which location? The one by the coolant reservoir?

If that's the location you want, then you can re-use the original PCV hose to connect to the intake manifold, then use a 3/8 inch to 3/8 inch barb connector to connect with the PCV end of the hose to your 3/8 inch ID fuel rated hose.

The hose diameter at the intake manifold is a bit smaller than 3/4 inch.

I didn't realize how many posts came after the one I replied to. Yes I prefer @xliderider's approach next to the engine coolant reservoir. That is what I hope to eventually implement.

I want to get the OCC installed tomorrow, but I can't get the 180 degree and the AN fittings that quickly. I will do a partial installation tomorrow using with longer hoses to eliminate bends, and I will leave the PCV in its original location.

Can you post links to the 180 degree fitting, and the fitting that screws into where the PCV goes into the engine? I am having trouble finding those parts on the EPartsGogo Ebay store. I think the listing ended.

It works perfectly by the headlight.
Mines just been laying there for 3.5 years and no trouble at all.

As an Uber driver, I go through Headlamp bulbs a lot, so I carry spares. I only discover that the bulb is out when it is dark outside. I am very good at replacing bulbs in the dark, using the "Braille Method". Having one headlight out may be interpreted as I am less of a professional driver, and my driver rating could suffer.

Having an OCC in the way would be a hassle, so I plan to use the location near the Engine Coolant
    Reservoir as suggested by @xliderider.

Mine is supported by the hoses.
It just lifts out of the way. Takes under one minute to change the bulb.

    THANK YOU @xliderider !

I will do the OCC install as a two step process. Today I will mount the OCC over the engine mount, next to the coolant reservoir. I will use longer hoses that can be curved overtop the IM, and leave the PCV in its original location.

When the parts come in, I will change the PCV location, and use the finer mesh inside can.

Parts to buy locally today for first phase:

    - qty 1: 3/4 " Aluminum L stock @ Home Depot
    - qty 1: 1/2" by 3" by 3 " steel bracket @ Home Depot
    - qty 1: 3/8" x 3/8" brass Double Hose Barb @ Home Depot
    - qty 1: 6 feet of 3/8 inch oil resist hose @ Advance Auto
    - qty 5: Good quality hose clamps for 3/8 in hose @ Advance Auto
    - qty 1: Good quality hose clamp for 3/4 in hose @ Advance Auto

Parts to order today for 2nd phase:

The M16 x AN6 fitting that goes in the original PCV valve location.
1PC: 6 AN Male Flare to M16 x 1.5 Metric Straight Aluminum Adapter Fitting Black | eBay

The 180 degree AN6 to 3/8 inch OD barb.
1PC: 180 Degree 6AN AN6 Swivel Oil/Fuel/Air/Gas Line Hose End Fitting Adapter Kit | eBay

    The stainless 80 mesh:

Why the 3/4 inch hose? You use the original PCV hose to connect to the intake manifold, then you use a 3/8 inch x 3/8 inch OD barb connector to join the PCV hose to your 3/8 inch ID fuel line/hose at the end of the PCV hose that came off the PCV valve. The original PCV hose makes the 180 degree turn you need to get to the new OCC location.

You'll need more 3/8 inch ID hose, 8 ft should be enough. 3/4 inch ID fuel line might be hard to find, and it will be expensive.

Edit: Disregard above, I reread your post, and see only a 3/4 inch hose clamp, not 3/4 inch hose. My bad.

The list item is for a new "Quality" clamp for the 3/4" hose. I am not purchasing 3/4 inch hose. (BTW, Advance did not have a suitable clamp for the 3/4 inch id hose)

Long time ago in this thread, there is a picture of the hose clamp the dealer used to re-attach the PCV hose to the IM. They charged me for the OEM clamp, but used a generic worm drive clamp. Another reason I won't use that dealer for service again.

BTW: Advance Auto charges $8.95 a foot for 3/8 fuel line, so 6 feet of that hose cost more than $50!. they have 3/8 inch transmission cooler hose at $2.49 a foot that is just as rugged, so I bought $15 worth of that hose.

$8.95 / ft sounds like "fuel injection" hose rated at something like 60psi. There's "fuel / vapor" hose that's good for 10-15psi, would be fine for pcv.

The clerk had already cut the hose off the reel, but the clerk knew something was wrong when it came up as $50. I think "fuel Injection" was printed on the side.

I asked about "Transmission cooler line" which is probably still overkill for the purpose, but at $15 for 6 feet, a lot better on the wallet. So that is what I bought.

One thing to keep in mind: the engine is "sprung", can move a little. So whether you mount on the engine or something solid, make sure there's a little room between sprung and unsprung.

I mounted mine on a slotted angle bracket atop the lower cross bar, the one with the front/centre jacking point on it's underside. It doesn't work for everyone though: access is primarily from below, with the splash shield off, during oil changes.

SAE30R7 fuel line is around $1.50~2.00 CDN per foot up here, in 3/8" OD. Very durable. I don't use any clamps where it's pushing onto barbed connectors. Should also be fine on PEX connectors. I even slightly blunt the barbs on the connectors I'm using, chuck them in a drill press and slightly blunt them with a file as it turns. Makes it easier if you ever want to pull them off.
