My Prius dead again, with techstream this time.

I like this location better. I am uncomfortable in taking up the space near the left Headlight. I put a lot of miles on the car while Ubering, and I go through Headlamps quite often. I keep spare bulbs in the foam tray in the back, and I change the bulb as soon as I notice one is burned out. I can change a headlamp bulb by "braille" method by now. Having the OCC in the way of the left headlamp was not something I liked doing.

I hope to install the OCC I bought tomorrow (my seasonal UPS job only gives me Sunday off). I need to buy hoses, and was hoping to find clear hoses.
1) Is the correct size of the hose at the PCV 3/8 inch?
2) What is the size at the IM end (I know it is bigger)?

I will buy a brass hose barb fitting to make the connection between the larger IM hose, and the smaller hose going to the output of the OCC.

 

I didn't realize how many posts came after the one I replied to. Yes I prefer @xliderider's approach next to the engine coolant reservoir. That is what I hope to eventually implement.

I want to get the OCC installed tomorrow, but I can't get the 180 degree and the AN fittings that quickly. I will do a partial installation tomorrow using with longer hoses to eliminate bends, and I will leave the PCV in its original location.

Can you post links to the 180 degree fitting, and the fitting that screws into where the PCV goes into the engine? I am having trouble finding those parts on the EPartsGogo Ebay store. I think the listing ended.

 

As an Uber driver, I go through Headlamp bulbs a lot, so I carry spares. I only discover that the bulb is out when it is dark outside. I am very good at replacing bulbs in the dark, using the "Braille Method". Having one headlight out may be interpreted as I am less of a professional driver, and my driver rating could suffer.

Having an OCC in the way would be a hassle, so I plan to use the location near the Engine Coolant
Reservoir as suggested by @xliderider.

I will do the OCC install as a two step process. Today I will mount the OCC over the engine mount, next to the coolant reservoir. I will use longer hoses that can be curved overtop the IM, and leave the PCV in its original location.

When the parts come in, I will change the PCV location, and use the finer mesh inside can.

The list item is for a new "Quality" clamp for the 3/4" hose. I am not purchasing 3/4 inch hose. (BTW, Advance did not have a suitable clamp for the 3/4 inch id hose)

Long time ago in this thread, there is a picture of the hose clamp the dealer used to re-attach the PCV hose to the IM. They charged me for the OEM clamp, but used a generic worm drive clamp. Another reason I won't use that dealer for service again.

BTW: Advance Auto charges $8.95 a foot for 3/8 fuel line, so 6 feet of that hose cost more than $50!. they have 3/8 inch transmission cooler hose at $2.49 a foot that is just as rugged, so I bought $15 worth of that hose.

 

The clerk had already cut the hose off the reel, but the clerk knew something was wrong when it came up as $50. I think "fuel Injection" was printed on the side.

I asked about "Transmission cooler line" which is probably still overkill for the purpose, but at $15 for 6 feet, a lot better on the wallet. So that is what I bought.
