    Hi all,

My 2008 gen 2 broke 200k this year. Recently within the last six months my abs actuator has been cycling every 15 seconds or so. There is also a groaning noise coming from the front brake system. Sometimes when I first turn on the car the abs/vcs light and alarm will come on, but it goes off with one tap of the brake pedal. MPG is still around 42-45.
I took it to my independent Toyota mechanic, a place called specialized automotive in Modesto and he says there are no codes for it and to just keep driving it until it fails completely. Needless to say, I drive about 600 miles a week for outside sales and I’m getting nervous.
Any advice on this would be helpful, or if anyone has any recommendations for someone to replace this in the Bay Area or near Stockton/Modesto. Mechanic told me the part alone is $2,000. Didn’t really seem like he wanted to do the job as I took it in there and was ready to pay him to so it.

The new OEM part is $11xx alone. Yes, it sounds like the mechanic doesn't want the work.
