My prediction, there won't be safe self-driving (fully autonomous) until ALL vehicles are self-driving. Connected, networked, gridded, and aware.

I’m driving the latest FSD Beta and loving it. If you can’t handle change, Tesla is not for you.

Tesla screwed up my wife's original Model Y reservation:. Y LR RWD 7 seat blue FSD. Original $56.5k. AWD upgrade would have been $60.5k. Last week or so Tesla asked us to revise the reservation to an available configuration:. Y LR AWD 7 seat blue at $72,990. They're gonna refund her $2500.

very very very nice machine. last week I realized I reallly dislike the x model, when I saw it next to the y model. the s and x now look like outdated cars compared to the vet very sleek 3 and y models. thanks to your post, I also realized the y is a 7 seater, never knew that, thanks.

enjoy the ZOOM when it's finally delivered, they are amazing

At the extra $12,490 my wife refused and let them automatically cancel, (more specifically $16,490 from what she initially signed up for).

Sadly looks like the same sales tactic is going to happen with her Cybertruck reservation.

I understand the point that you are trying to make but............
Don't they still have all of the basic manual controls in place: Steering wheel, accelerator, brake pedal, turn signals, etc. just like all cars have had for the last 70 years or so ??
Both my cars have a lot of "stuff" that I never use right now.

    • steering wheel - shifts to the driver setting and the Model S plaid has a yoke, not a wheel
    • accelerator - with AutoPilot and Full Self Driving, we don't use it very often
    • brake pedal - with AutoPilot and Full Self Driving, we don't use often except to exit AutoPilot and/or Full Self Driving
    • turn signals - with AutoPilot and Full Self Driving, usage is becoming rare

    • AC - no mechanical connections with unified or split temperatures. Interior mirror still manually set
    • exterior mirrors - have driver saved profiles

that sucks. :-( I love to see folks enjoying better technology each time they can.

I guess all that hype about inflation and irides going crazy, might be real.

    You're being nice to Tesla.

Last (year) December as Y AWD prices started to rise I asked my wife to go in and consider changing to an AWD, as prices were rising and LR RWD may not be built. We told the salesman we are not in a hurry, and were advised we got a great deal on our early/original reservation, to just wait.

Now we're sitting looking at "inflation". Keeping her $2500 did two things:

    1. Kept us captive in the hopes of getting the Y at the price she signed up for. I don't feel it's fair to not warn us we should consider to switch, as it may never be made. At least put the risk/chance in our hands last December....

    2. Prevented us from looking for an alternative.

    Let's try this again.
Just because new features are present does NOT mean that anything forces you to actually USE them.
Thus, a person who can't handle change could still be perfectly happy.......right ??

Yes, manual mode works best in driveway and parking lots. <GRINS>

Unfortunately the hardware still requires some salesperson to not lie, and deliver the product.
The hardware is awesome, the sale people are terrible

Just as a note. Sales people don’t know when price increases or decreases are coming.
Tesla reps have as much knowledge of upcoming price shifts as you.

If the decision was made, before we were told we had to change our choices, I mean well before hand, and we were just left dangling while Tesla held onto the $2500, then the person who made the decision is to blame. As I know Mr. Musk noted standard range RWD was "not up to his standards". (Inside our minds if there's a SR RWD then we just have to wait for the LR RWD). Then "no LR RWD because of an already too complex lineup". Then there's news of 2022 EPA rated RWD? I think it's just hogwash what he did to us LR RWD reservation holders. He just doesn't want to sell at that price originally stated, not that he doesn't want to produce a LR RWD. Just think it would have a longer range than the current LR AWD...
