I've had an Aukey DR02 dashcam installed for the last 2+ years. I've replaced the power cable once, but otherwise it's been solid.

For the last week its been powering on/off intermittently. I initially assumed the cable had gone bad again, but same issue with two other cables that I tested. I also checked to see if the cigarette lighter adapter had failed, but same issue with two other adapters. Then I thought maybe the Prius socket was failing, but I replicated the problem on the other lighter socket (in console). So my last deduction was that the camera was faulty - However, it functions fine with a power bank! For some reason the camera doesn't like the power supplied though the cigarette sockets. Any ideas?

Have you compared the voltage level between the power bank and the car receptacle?

Have you tried operating the camera from the power bank at the same temperatures your car has been exposed to?

Just a few ideas to test, good luck!

If you plug it into another cars cigarette lighter socket does it do the same thing then it's the unit obviously not necessarily the car or socket that would be the only thing I could know to do right off I take it over to my sienna van which everything I plug into it works I don't care what it is laptop telephone doesn't matter and if I plugged it into my sienna van and it didn't do right I would think it was the camera

Tombuk - yeah that was my next move. Then, if it functions as expected I'll bust out the multimeter and check voltages at cigarette outlet.

I’ve seen this in other places.
Cigarette plug is loose in socket. Wears over time. Check spring metal piece.

Cigarette socket is a tin piece of shite. Have replaced mine twice.

Go online and order a new one. I like Olathe Toyota Parts.

What do you look very carefully You can find the cigarette lighter plug that has some ceramic pieces inside of it tends to make it hold up a lot longer they still do exist even for our imports

Turns out it's not the cigarette lighter plug as same issue in another car. My guess is capacitor is going bad.

It’s not the socket that I was referring to, it may be the spring on the plug
I’ve seen it more than once. Wobbles and disconnects.

That makes a good argument for hard-wired solutions.

Heaven forbid that a car accident would include shock or vibration that cuts the power and defeats your recording...

Negative - I'm assuming you mean the spring on the power adapter... well I've tested with 3 different adapters and same issue. I've ordered a new dashcam.
