Have had the C1310 & the P3000P0A80 show up on my 2008 Prius. Both showed up and disappeared on their own without having to be cleared. But now the mpg has gone from 48 to 32. So bought the OBDLinkLX101 and downloaded Dr. Prius to try and see what the specific problem might be. It looks like to get information that might be useful I will have to pay for either a personal account or a shop account. Anyone know the current price for these packages and is it worth it for what they provide? Will there be future costs for other features or data?

Here's buyer's guide written by Dr. Prius app: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus Buying a functional OBD2 can sometimes be a huge pain... But essential to have in any Prius glovebox. There's some cleaning of corrosion potential in hybrid battery pack if you're DIY. Of course that's after 12v battery is at its best and without issue. Also see here: P0A80 and c1259 and c1310 | PriusChat

Go through the motions of registering them, and at some point you know the price, before committing. I registered Dr Prius about 2 years back and it was around $10 CDN?

Yeah will probably have to go down that route. Have gone this far in life without buying something via cell phone, but I guess it's time to join the 21st century. Was it a one time charge for all the features back than, or did they hit you with more fees for this or that later? Saw somewhere else that the cost for the app was $32 a year and a half ago. So if true, I'll be $70+30 into this, but pretty sure I have to go down this route.

The added features you pay for on Dr. Prius really aren't necessary once you learn enough to use better methods for hybrid system evaluation. However if you don't know about that stuff yet, $20 isn't much to pay.

I think Hybrid Assistant is free - but you'd need an Android phone.

Just an update. I did purchase last week. $11.99USD. Not sure of the actual value it provides yet, but for $12, not a big deal. Tested it on a Prius that is not showing the errors & for life expectancy it said 63% capacity remaining - fair condition. Was thinking it would have provided more detailed information. It would be nice to know if 63% is good for a 2008. And the other paid feature just said something like "no battery problems?". Might run those paid features on the Prius showing the error messages this weekend.

It says "life expectancy", but it really means "estimated capacity".

I have found that Dr Prius is pretty good for live HV battery data and quick code check and clearing (for the engine and hybrid control ecu's). It can also log battery data (android only?) to a .csv file or some such.

Hybrid Assistant gives you lots of data (for the hybrid system as well as the ICE), and can produce a very fancy report as part of a battery test.

Torque IMO seems to be a bit like Linux- it can do quite a bit but you have to know what you're doing and spend some time fiddling with it. Personally I don't have the time to make it work.

Can hybrid assistant read the same Prius problem codes as Dr, Prius?

Nope. HA shows data- lots of data, but does not pull codes.

That's too bad. Code pulling isn't very hard.

Maybe the authors didn't want to bother with including a database of fortune cookies. But those are about useless anyway. I'd be perfectly happy with a tool that just showed the codes it got back.

A correction. Turns out that using the app on a cell phone requires good eyes and closer attention to fine print. 90%-New, 70%-Good, 50%-Fair, 40%-Poor, Lower-Replace. But so far it's been flaky to get it to work properly. Ran it again, and it took 6 times to get it to give a coherent test. It seemed to get into a quick repeat loop that kept giving negative results than finally gave what seemed to be a true reading.

How about Torque/ Torque Pro, any idea if the updated version can pull/clear the same Prius specific codes as Dr. Prius? I recall reading it was possible with the old version if the correct PIDs were downloaded - is this still the case? I think most people just need the ability to read/clear codes.

I tried Torque pro a couple of days ago and did not pull any codes despite several lights on my dash, I ended up buying a mini vci cable. Torque seems to work good on the GM cars I've had but on the Prius and my 2004 VW it wouldn't pull any codes.

You may need to load the vehicle application specific "PIDs" before it works properly.

Interesting that OBDlink LX is not recommended on Dr Prius but is recommended for Hybrid Assistant. May explain your errors

Dr Prius: Expensive adapters not always good - OBDLink LX and MX

If you believe expensive items are always good, think again..
I've received 50/50 praises/complaints about this OBDLink adapter that I had to purchase myself despite the expensive price.
Well, turns out this is a really fast adapter but all the good things pretty much stop there. The manufacturer claims to support “both Android and iOS,” however with iOS, it can only run with its own App, this is due to it's last-generation Bluetooth hardware isn't compatible with the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). Also, I found it frustrating to pair it with Android devices, I think you have to click the connect button either at the right timing or with the right duration to make it discover-able by your Android devices, overall, I would not recommend this fast adapter to users.

Hybrid Assistant: The following adapters has been tested successfully with Hybrid Assistant
    OBDLink LX
Reading speed: fast. Fully tested, the Hybrid Assistant Team strongly suggests using this adapter if you want full functionality.

Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus

    Hybrid Assistant: OBD
