I own a 2010 Toyota Prius Premium IV with a JBL E7022 radio (navigation, satellite, AM, FM, backup camera, multimedia functions, CD, DVD). JBL part no.# 86120-47390, Denso part no.# 468100-0583.

I am looking for a replacement, either a reliable stock or an aftermarket from overseas. If someone suggests a refurbished or remanufactured, what is a dependable source? If someone recommends an overseas, then I would want it to have a one-year warranty with the option of three to four-year extended warranty. In the end, what should I go with, a used radio that is over 10 years old or a new aftermarket that may be a challenge to install and could lead to further complications. What brands are the most compatible and reliable? If I decide to go with a stock radio, would it be smart to buy one that was manufactured in late 2011 rather than going with a 2010 model or does it really matter?

The problem with my present radio is that it does not read the DVD / Nav disc and prevents me from using everything from my backup camera, radio, etc. If someone knows how to bypass this problem, please tell me. I could live without the radio, but I have to have my backup camera, I prefer it to my rear view mirror.

I would say get an aftermarket head unit that has either built in Garmin navigation or Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Apple Carplay and Android Auto uses the navigation on your phone so it never has to be updated through the head unit. A Pioneer head unit with a CD/DVD player with Apple Carplay and Android Auto runs for about $450. New aftermarket head units produce better sound than a stock head unit. They are actually easy to install. Retaining the factory back up camera is the only thing I would say is a little bit more difficult. YouTube probably has a video of it though.

I have one but the only thing that doesn’t work is the phone option.

Do the aftermarket head units include Sirius/XM? I've only ever used it when there was a freebie, but I'd want the unit to have the option.

Well I have a android head unit and you can download the xm app the only thing is that it will have to tether internet from your phone or my unit has CarPlay so I use xm from there as well and it works amazing

If the aftermarket radio doesn't have XM bulit in, most others have a port on the back side of the headunut to add the XM control box. And yes, you can use it with Carplay or Android Auto. From my experience, I can only tell you which one not to get. The Boss headunit gave me problems not even after 4 months. Maybe I just got a lemon. Great customer service from Boss, though. The replacement one they sent me was better, but still had it's glitches and issues.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll take it from here. Most likely, I will go with an aftermarket radio.
