Well, there is a highly variable region and a conserved region on the IgG. (Don't quote me on IgG, immunoglobulin G). The highly variable region randomly varies and some are able to target/attach to the antigen, (if not mistaken on the antigen presenting cells or just plain floating about). These are positively selected for and stored in T memory, (or was it B cells). The rough gist of how it works.

This random change of the variable region is the reason different people have different responses to the vaccine, or different response to the virus itself. This is genetic, transferred down, hence why certain races can make other races sick, at least that I read in history books, ie when Europeans came to America what disease(s) they brought to the indigenous Indians...

unfortunately, half the people in massachusetts hospitals during omicron were vaxxed and boosted.

they may have had less severe symptoms, but that's little comfort when you get admitted.

the trouble with b and t cells, is that scientists have no way of measuring your protection yet, as they do with antibodies.
it's fine as an overall 'most of the public is covered' statement goes. but i'm not 'most of the public' and they can't tell me if i'm protected. ymmv

and of course, omicron is moving on, and all new studies will need to be done for the next variant, which will be finished when that variant has moved on.

My understanding is the vaccinated have been 20x less likely to DIE:
    • Who infected them?
    • Who insists they have a right to infect others?
If that is what it takes to kill off the anti-VAX idiots, GOOD!

Let the idiots win their Darwin Awards … at their graves.

That's pretty much what they've been requesting, but for some reason the nanny state just can't.

Actually the "ninny" state of mind like this above example continues to promote COVID.

78% of COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the US overweight or obese, CDC finds

It looks like nearly 4 out of 5 people hospitalized with covid are fat. Don't fat people bring poor health upon themselves? Should be spewing judgement on them as well.
By the above "judgements" - we should also be saying it serves fat people right because they're lack of impulse control brought it upon themselves?
Fat people are getting what they deserve? Let fat people win their Darwin Awards? Who insists fat people should take a hospital bed from a normal weight person?

That opinion isn't supported by the data. Even if it were, it's irrelevant to the fact that your position is internally inconsistent. Either people who don't want to take the vaccine are allowed to experience the consequences of their decisions or they're not. You can't have it both ways.

The three shot, vaccinated get a pass as they have done what works against COVID. It is the anti-VAX idiots who continue to spread COVID, occupy hospitals, overwork hospital staff, fill ICUs, and morgues.

Riddle me this...if this Biden administration is REALLY worried about the unvaxed, why have they allowed over 2 million illegals to enter our country and not tested or vaccinated ANY of them? Instead, they are spreading them all over the country. Wouldn't spreading 2 million people who may have Covid around be considered a "super spreader" event???

But it doesn't work, at least not in California (where I am familiar with the data). This is from data released yesterday:

COVID-19 Vaccine Progress Dashboard Data - Datasets - California Open Data

COVID-19 Time-Series Metrics by County and State - Datasets - California Health and Human Services Open Data Portal

There is no discernible relationship between vaccinations and spread. The proposition that vaccinations reduce spread is not supported by the data. It's a myth. In fact, the county with the highest percentage of its population fully vaccinated also has the highest death rate and the county with the lowest vaccination rate has a death rate that is below the statewide mean.

These are facts published by the California Department of Public Health, not conspiracy theories or rantings of lunatics.

    • Free vaccinations, all three shots
    • Public service announcements about the vaccinations
    • Continued development of vaccines and anti-viral treatments
    • Tax payer funded, science based, COVID public health policies

Unfortunately, as I posted, the death rates are not correlated with vaccination rates.

It's really strange to me how the same people who were protesting against big pharma and the revolving door between industry and government ten years ago (remember Occupy Wall Street?) are today calling the people who still don't trust big pharma or their executives and stock holders in the government "conspiracy theorists."

I live in Alabama which is part of Dixie. The public data is pretty clear that vaccinated Southerners are surviving better than the others. Regardless, here is data from a credible source:
    upload_2022-2-23_9-50-43.png
    • Similar case load as USA
    • Similar hospitalizations as USA
    • Lower California death rate, 0.44 to 0.59, as USA
    • Higher California vaccination rate, 70% vs 65% USA
You are welcome to your opinion but facts and data are not your friend.

We're talking about two different things here. If vaccinations aren't preventing or even reducing spread, then vaccinations are no longer a public health issue. One person's vaccination status has no relevance
Are you saying that the California Department of Public Health is less reliable than the New York Times reporting on the data they collected from the California Department of Public Health? That seems a bit odd.

Anyway, you're cherry-picking data. A correlation run across a data set of two isn't going to tell you anything meaningful. Run the correlation across all the counties in the country and see what happens. Somebody already did that.
