I have a 2010 Prius with 405,000 km on it. I drive a lot :) For the last 5 years I have been replacing brakes every 25,000 km. None of the local mechanics or the dealership knows why. They say it’s my usage, but only in the last 5 year I have had to replace so often and I drive the same. I live in an area with snow in the winter.
I noticed on here everyone bragging about getting over 100,000 miles (would be even more km) on their brakes.
I am replacing the 2010 with a 2021 Prius in a couple of weeks. How can I get more than 25k amount of brake mileage on my new vehicle? Is there any brake maintenance or settings to use that I need use to get a longer brake life? Something the mechanics missed about Prius?

I got 270K miles on original brakes... Are you sure you have needed to replace brakes so often? I mean if you were delivering mail that'd be possible. But in general most all of Prius breaking is done with the electric motor to recharge the battery, which means con-artist mechanics see the sorta rusty rotors due to lack of use of mechanical breaks and use it to rip people off.

Well my x drilled rotors seem to stay clean. I can see them clearly thru the 17. I think I changed at 208K
