Died on hwy, triangle. Codes: P0A7A & P0A78. The car will go into gear, but won't move. I swapped the invertor with a used one, same exact problem. Is this the transmission?

There's a 3 digit subcode that goes with those error codes... It'd help us help us help you if we could find out what they are?

Ok. I'm in the process of getting the Techstream thing. I DO have an update: I checked my fault codes, again, after replacing the invertor, and NOW it only shows: P0A78. Thank you.

As we often mention on here in discussions with inverter error codes is the inverter handles so many different aspects of the high voltage system, that problems with other systems can falsely point to the inverter as the problem because the inverter has to deal with that problem more than the other systems. I still have a replacement inverter on my parts racks from a few years ago that I never needed to use because of this. So now's the time to get after the rest of hybrid system with cleaning, inspection and maintenance.

Ok. I was just hoping someone has seen the exact same problem. My cat shield is, now, going to be in my way, probably, I welded that thing on. I guess I'm gonna have to learn a lot about testing resistance and electrical stuff? All I have is a multi meter.

Hopefully these images can help those that need to know the 3 digit INF, detailed code, sub code, etc.

unfortunately, no. there are lots of threads here, and success is hit or miss, because it is a black market product

Techstream itself isn't a black market product. If you download it straight from Toyota and use their activation keys ($65 for two days of use), there's nothing seamy to worry about.

Some of the cheaper J2534 dongles being sold online will tout that they come with a copy of Techstream that might possibly forget to check its activation key. Those, of course, are not official copies, and can present some challenges in setup. People using those tend to dedicate an old beater laptop and make sure not to use it for anything important.

My cheap cracked software license on the very first day said it was good for 9,999 days... Seems reasonable? :)
