This is what I used for conversion to spin-on, in CDN funds, from Amayama. They ship from Japan or United Arab Emirate. To avoid double shipping charges it's best to choose one or the other, not both, which is easy to do on their site. The scratched out stuff is windshield wiper inserts, ignore them:

There are several itterations of the Oil Filter Bracket; the above one might be older-style, but worked fine.

Update: Modified cap wrench was successful at getting it loose

Get one of these, and replace the plastic filter housing with this aluminum filter housing at your next oil change.

Much lower cost than the spin on conversion, and the aluminum housing can not be overtightened, it just stops turning.

It is the same, 64mm size, so you can still use the cap style tool to remove it. Screenshot_20220406-102028_eBay.jpeg

    The plastic nylon housing swells.

Ten years, ago, when I bought my 2012 Prius v, I also purchased the $60 official SST shown here,

    filter wrench outside.jpg

The first year or two, it went on easily and easily removed the housing.
Every subsequent oil change, the cap wrench became harder and harder to fit on the housing and even harder to remove.

Finally, about four years ago, I converted to the spin on adapter. It became a pleasure to remove and install a new oil filter.

I have since explored this video on YouTube.

Since I live in a no salt corrosion area, I sold off the "like new" shiny cartridge adapter with a new spare plastic housing and filter. I had also ordered the o-rings but din not need them, so I sold the entire assemble for $100.

Wow, less than $20? Some people charge near $180? Do you have a link?

I think most mechanics like to torque it as tight as they can because loose filter really kill the engine instantly. I help watching my friend changing the oil by himself and when he starts the car, the entire oil came out in only 1 minute. I cought it and turn the engine off. It was only 0.5 L left. Yes, don't overdue it but we can still trust good mechanics doing it. They probably always overtorque it but don't worry too much about it. Use small torque wrench if you are paranoid about it. I use max steength of my 3 finger tips for final torque with my 1/2" socket wrench.
