I just installed this sub yesterday into my 2007 prius touring. It works great and the sounds is awesome. But the issue is that the red light on the wired remote which is designated to show power is always on. Even after I turn the car off. Everything is working so I'm wondering if the light supposed to remain on. There is no documentation anywhere showing this to be the case, even the crappy install guide that came with the subwoofer doesn't say anything.

I connected the ignition power to the grey ignition going to the jbl amp -- oh yeah, I have the premium jbl 9 speaker system -- and I tapped into the rear speakers. I connected the yellow battery line to directly to the battery and the ground cable I connected to the same bolt the negative on the battery is connected to. the latter is the only thing I was thinking might cause an issue but is there really a difference between connecting it to the same bolt....they'll both be connected to the same chassis.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Isaac

You are going to need a voltmeter to sort this out I suppose. The yellow wire is the main power lead as you know, but the gray line is the 'sense' lead. It should connect to some wire that is +12 v only when the car is in 'on' or 'ready'.

In all likelihood you have the gray connected to something that is always +12volt. This ought to be resolved because the added parasitic drain of the SW1 will discharge the prius' 12 v batt sooner than usual.

BTW, greetings from Yunnan Province southern China where I (for some odd reason) am 'doing Prius' while waiting for breakfast noodle-bowl.

China wow. It's just one giant little world. My fiance is over in India right now so I'm spending my time messing with the car. :)

Anyways, I did use the volt meter to see whats up. I thought I was being clever by avoiding tapping into the leads coming out of the jbl amp since their set pretty tight and there isn't much slack for mistakes. So I followed the grey line from pin 12 back towards the passenger seat and under the front passenger side door sill...the plastic part that covers the wires leading to the passenger side kick panel....I saw the grey line...checked to see if it was the only grey line...and it was. So figured it was a good a place as any to patch into it. To cut a long story short I used my volt reading to see if there was constant power running through it and THERE WAS!!!

I went back to the amp..stripped a piece of the sheathing from the grey line coming out of the amp and tested with the ignition on and off to see if power was running through...this line, was only on when the ignition was on. So I ended up patching into it anyways and everything is working fine now.

My next project now is to add in some sound dampening to the doors and floor. After installing the sub and having to remove the backseats and jams I'm more confident about doing that...the car is basically put together with snaps!!! I'm surprised its not as road noise deficient as its construction would make it seem, but its pretty quite.

    thanks for the info.

I ordered the KENWOOD KSC-SW1 DUAL 6.5" POWERED ENCLOSED SUBWOOFER which I plan to put under the front seats. I have NAV so I am not sure it will fit under the Drivers seat. I need detailed photos and exact wire locations and colors to pick up my signal and power for an 'O6 Prius. Thanks for any help.
