Project Lithium just got its last shipping container of packs for Prius for the year. Jack estimates they'll sell out at $2170 price point in less than a few weeks.

After that no more packs till 2023 because Port in China and factory are closed due to Covid and he's also looking at currently impossible 300% price increases for some of the raw materials due to supply chain issues. So basically forced to shut down till 2023 once this next batch is sold. So if you want to get one these packs while they're still affordable and readily available now's your last chance.

Please use my affiliate link so I can get a little bit of money for my effort: https://projectlithium.com/?ref=9qLPw In return I'll provide free near unlimited support or just discount on installation if you don't live too far away.

These packs make Prius run in EV mode way more often! It improves performance in many ways. Have had one in my car for 18 months and is a game changer, especially climbing mountains!

Looks like somebody just bought one... They were still marked as sold out earlier this morning, but in the past hour have gone back on sale. Now's your chance!

Pretty sure he can say that himself on his site. Being upfront helps, not word of mouth.

Not sure I'm following your point? I'm simply trying to help people understand how it works... Seems like they want to avoid getting backed up with orders so once they have a day's worth of shipping they put up the sold out signs until all the orders have shipped so you can be certain that your order gets shipped same day you pay for it. That's of course something a business isn't going to take the time to explain and if you're about to drop $2K on something you deserve as much info as possible.

Most important point about this post is that just a couple-few weeks of supply left...

He sold out before. This is no different. Prices going up? Happens. If people want to pretend not to see whats happening around and want to yell about price increases go elsewhere and not bother 'J'. Not to mention he had it on sale so for bump in price now just means the sale is up.

You clearly don't understand what's going on... The Nickel market and Lithium market is chaos right now and Jack is looking at 300% price increases so the factory in China building his batteries has shut down for a minimum of 6 months, more likely till 2023. And by then prices will hopefully be viable again.

Maybe actually read the post so your dismissiveness doesn't look so out of touch? If you don't buy a pack in next couple of weeks you won't be able to buy a pack till next year and definitely not at the $2170 price point. I'm actually trying to help people. Not sure what you're trying to do?

If that were the case other makers who are in the same market would be feeling the crunch. Either way my answer is the same, I'll hear it from J. Sold out? Good on J. Increase in cost? It is what it is.

Lol... Someone's hard work to bring better battery packs to us has been hit hard and is shutting down production and you pretend like nothing is wrong and it's not true and you'll "wait to here from J first"? If this is how you treat people in real life I feel sorry for your friends and family who have to put up with you!

From my perspective at least, I can't see buying a battery because they're just about sold out. I'm going wait till I need it, and then see what's available, then. May cost a bit more, might not be the optimum battery or deal. Or the day may never come. Either way I'm ok with that.

Yeah... $2K is a lot of money to drop on an upgrade/spare part, but after calling all the stealerships in PNW and new OEM battery without installation is selling for $2600 to $4400 in Western Washington. And in Portland, Oregon they're selling for $1995 but everyone is several weeks a way from being back in stock and currently one person at a stealership telling me there's only 5 remaining OEM packs remaining in US warehouses currently. If Toyota has a big shipments coming into the US and beyond, then no big deal. But if they don't... There's gonna be a huge backlog of orders soon and with prices for Nickel being gamed on the market right now, we might be heading into another supply chain crisis.

We may have a perfect storm of OEM packs being out of stock for months and Project Lithium packs being out of stock till 2023. So if you help people with their Prius and want to plan ahead, now's your chance to get a pack that's superior to OEM: https://projectlithium.com/?ref=9qLPw

PriusCamper, I appreciate you letting us know especially since some could be on the fence and not realize the supply issues.

If I knew my hybrid battery wasn't in the best shape, I would be concerned with all the supply problems and would probably choose to purchase one.

Also, some might choose to get one just for the benefits even though their battery is fine.

Yea, I'm in the same situation... The latest packs have a little more capacity than prototype I've been testing for 18 months and would love to have that. My original plan was to use my affiliate link to sell so many packs that I'd be able to spend that money on buying a pack. But now that factory is shut down I won't be able to succeed at that till 2023.

I will wait for someone to use solid state batteries to replace the gen 3 pack. Lifepo4 cannot be charged below 32F w/o battery degradation.

    @Grit

I have not had any issues like that.
Living in the high desert where it snows.

Temps go below 32F here and the HV battery charges with no problems and still has the capacity it had when I got it.

I think solid state is a ways off. Just my opinion.
