    Unbelievable!
I pre-ordered my prius prime 2022, end April 2022 and a few mins ago I received this email and no reply or call backs... I'll keep you posted as I learn more.

    Hello Joseph,
I’m writing you this email because Toyota Canada has reached out to us in regards to cuts in production:
“Unfortunately your file was cut by Toyota Canada at this time”
If you would like to continue with your order, we will need to re-order with Toyota Canada.
Or if you would like a refund we totally understand.
    Please Advise,

This is relayed from a dealership? Seems like more and more these days, corporate critters excel in speech that is grammatically correct, but that’s about it.

You can tell when they’re really nervous: they start invoking various “at this point in time” suffixes. Whatever the heck that implies.

I don't even know what "your file was cut" means. I've heard of files being closed. Or lost.

Mislaid. Sent to regional. Placed under seal. Damaged by fire. Eaten by vermin. "Cut"?

Is there some Canadian idiom in play?

Your dealer wants to sell your car at a higher profit

This is no different than what the Maverick crowd is experiencing

Oh, boy. Was your order with a specific price in binding? If so, I would only re-order at that price.

For now and foreseeable future, I am not going to consider buying a Toyota until the market turns around. Our local Toyota dealer is totally unwilling to make any deal at this time.

Disappointing to hear. And I’m not sure why they’d invite you to reorder.

You could try WEM Toyota in Edmonton. I was very happy with them. Talk to Bill.

I’ve noticed a number of CDN politicians in particular, when they’re evidently trying to say “it’s not my responsibility”, instead say “it’s not my file”.

but yeah, “cut” makes even less sense. Unless obfuscation is your goal…

These dealers may be in for a rude awakening when things get back to normal.

I got this same email… same car, but I ordered in early April. No reply from the dealer either. The quote is super weird. I feel like they don’t want to give me the incentive anymore, since they can still re-order?

    Sending you a DM…

Nm, can’t DM, so - is the email from an Adam? I’m wondering if it’s the same Dealer.

I was thinking a mis Japanese to English translation, as that quote came from Toyota Canada, who might be relaying a something from Toyota Japan, where the factory is.

Ohh that’s terrible news. What do they mean re-order?

Only thing I can think of is they mean the order books closed for this year and the dealer needs to resubmit your order when Toyota Canada opens the book for the next model year.

That sounds similar to what I heard other manufacturers do - when the book closes, all orders that didn’t make the cut get deleted and the dealer has to resubmit (hopefully in the same order they received) their customers’ orders when the portal reopens for ordering.

Today was a sad day.. visited the dealership to collect my deposit. Toyota Canada cancelled over 1,000 units with this dealership and I'm told to check back end of this year or Jan 2023 to re-order.

This is strange because Prius Prime production has been increasing.

Where does Toyota make the most profit on the car?
As far as I know, it is only assembled at one factory, so an increase in production can be going anywhere on the globe.

Ohh..very sad day for you. I wonder why Toyota Canada cancelled over 1000 units with that dealership ? I have trouble seeing how this dealership will survive with 1000 units cancelled..I don't quite get it....unless there is an offensive or fraudulent activity going on in this dealership in regards to Toyota Canada
