I largely like what I see in the Mach-E and the RAV4 Prime interiors. Anything but Tesla’s Wth?! “minimalism,” which I think is obviously just cheapness made to look cool by hype.

My only substantial concern about the Mach-E is charging speed. The Ioniq 5 is muuuch faster.

At the majority of chargers, they are probably the same. There isn't many 350kW units deployed yet.

It's hard to buy a Mach-E at sticker price. The only way to get it at sticker is to order it. But that's closed for the 2022 model year. When you take delivery of a 2023, the tax credit will have been reduced. There are some available but expect to pay $5k-$15k over sticker.

As for charging, the Ioniq 5 takes about 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80% and the Mach-E will take double that. The Ioniq 5 will be better if you road trip a lot. I don't need superfast DC charging speed so I'm fine with the Mach-E.

Many fast DC chargers out there are still the earlier 50kW ones. At that rate, the Ioniq 5 takes an hour to go from 10% to 80%. Most Mach-E's a peak charge rate of 150kW(Select is 115kW). With chargers up to that rate, the difference in charge time between it and the Ioniq 5 aren't going to be too big.

Actually, yes, you can still order Mach-E in Canada. Rebates are only applicable to standard range models for some reason though... Just inquired at my dealer, they say about 6 months to get them.

Yeah but in Canada, the Mach-E Select RWD is $6,500 more than a base RAV4 Prime (which has AWD as standard). Closer to $10k once you add AWD. Both have the same federal EV rebate but will have different provincial rebates.

Umm, the Premium (RWD and eAWD) should get it too given that it’s below the $70k limit for the iZEV rebate.

    73 mins per the manufacturer.

True but depending on the Mach-e, the Ioniq5 maybe faster or slower. (Battery size).

In my particular case at least, there are 350KW stations where I need them. The most common road trip I take is Austin->Houston->Austin, and there’s a 350KW station nicely between the two on I-10 in Columbus.

There’s also at least one within Houston (although not close to my usual destinations in Houston) and one in Round Rock near our house in Austin (of course the vast majority of the time we’d just level-2 charge at home).

Of course there are plenty of 150KW stations in Houston as well.

And at 150kW chargers, we're seeing Ioniq5/EV6 owners pulling in 160-170kW.

170kw's - 50 times faster charge speed - compared to the RAV4 Prime ..... unless you get the utmost expensive Rav Prime model, which is a minut fraction of the overall currently manufactured fleet .... in which case you only charge 25X slower than Hyundai / Kia.
    Oh well - baby steps.

Don't you mean faster than the RAV4 Prime? Pretty sure the Prime doesn't charge at 8.5MW.

You could 'charge' the gas tank at a fast rate.

oops - yea I could have worded that a lot less confusing.
Cleaned it up just a little bit. But I just pounded down a bloody mary so I ought not do any more posts for an hour or so ...

I recently changed employers, and one of my new colleagues has a lovely new Mach E. Looks nice! I’m still thinking Ioniq 5 though, even if only for its fast charging and the power shad over the glass roof. Somewhat higher efficiency too.

Meh, it's rated highly in CR ratings, but a Hyundai/Kia will always be a Hyundai/Kia. Ford is probably a better choice. Fast-charging is currently a hype—all it does is to reduce your battery life—fast.

Its steering without feedback and poorly functioning electronic driving-assist systems already make it a no–no for me.

Don't forget about the parking paw recall; not always engaging on those Ford - I believe it covers almost all their recent BEVs.

Rolling away while parked is better than wheel coming off while driving.:p

In the 1970s, isn't that what they said about both Toyota & honda?
