I have some questions regarding a few things on my DIY brake job. I've seen some similar discussionsbut none quiet as specific on my 2008 toyota prius. I've successfully changed one of the front rotors and brake pads however two things are giving me issues. First is the ABS and VSC dash lights are on now, and I did not disconnect the 12volt battery before changing the parts out. Yikes I know now! Will I cause further issue if I disconnect the 12v battery now before changing the other front pads and rotors? Or is it okay to do so? I also bled the brake valve before pushing the piston in- and am not sure if that's okay for a prius? Last question is I have tried testing the brake pad just driving a tiny bit and it feels like a wobbly braking - where it causes the car to shift side to side a little bit when pressing the brake. Could that be the wheel or the rotor isn't straight? And or lugnuts are torqued correctly? Any advice would be awesome.

As a help to us, can you post the corresponding trouble codes?

If you don't have a scan tool to read them, you can use the jumper wire between Tc and CG method, and get the codes by counting the blinks of the dash lights. You can search up other threads with those details.

Thanks so much for your response. I don't have a scan tool, and can't seem to find more info on how to use the jumper wire between the Tc and CG method like you mention. Could you direct me where I should look for more details on the TC and CG method to get the trouble codes?

Look at this post: Getting the blink codes

For reference, this diagram shows the requisite pins:

here are the blink codes that showed up- let me know what you think for next steps?

    ABS

    3-1

    3-2

    VSC

    4-5

    4-3

    Brake system warning light

    6-2

    3-6

Tire pressure exclamation point with ridges under sign

    2-3

    Airbag symbol

Blinking constantly during the blinking though it doesn’t light up when the car is just turned on/sitting in parking without the pin in the Tc CG ports

    ABS
31 = C0200 = an issue with the right-hand front wheel speed sensor signal
32 = C0205 = an issue with the left-hand front wheel speed sensor signal

    VSC
43 = note you have codes on the ABS light
45 = note you have codes on the ECB light

    ECB (brake system warning)
36 = note you have codes on the ABS light
    62 = C1341 = an issue controlling right-hand front brake line pressure

The blink codes that are only "note you have other blink codes" codes are missing from some editions of Gen 2 manual; you can crib from this post.

    TPMS
23 = C2123 = no signal from the tire transmitter registered as ID3.

You can find troubleshooting and repair for these different codes in the repair manual, or do searches here using the corresponding five-character DTCs, might get more detailed hits than just with the blink codes.

A constant, fast blink, like you see on the airbag light, is just blink-code-ese for "everything fine here, no codes to blink."
