I know this gets asked here a lot probably. I'm sorry about it.

I had the classic error code C1391.

I went to Toyota and they said the part is backordered but it'd be $1800 for the part and $900 for the labor.

I went on Ebay and got a used part with 30 day returns and a 1 year warranty for $320.

Took it to a mechanic, they tried for 6 hours and this acctuator is even worse.

Before, I would press the brakes and it would pump 3 times and come to a stop.

This one is beeping the whole time and I can't drive it. The brakes don't work at all. The mechanic felt bad and only charge me $230. Now I gotta pay another $230 for them to put the old one in.

It's interesting though because C1391 code went away but now I get these codes:

C1246 - master cylinder pressure sensor
    C1364 - W/C pressure sensor
    C1365 - ACC pressure sensor

So before I go trying to fix this any further, I'm just curious if another actuator is going to fix the issue with all of these codes or are these ones separate from the ABS C1391 code.

I know nothing about Priuses and I'm kind of regretting this purchase even though I was excited about it initially. Any glimmer of hope would mean the world to me. Thanks

Before jumping in and changing the actuator/accumulator unit, did you
    1. Check that there is no fluid leakage in the brake line between the brake actuator and the wheel cylinder which is the cause of DTCs.
    2. Check that the brake is not dragging?
It sounds like the eBay part is a dud.

You don't say where you are in Florida, but if you can get to @TampaPrius.com Todd can do this job (for $800 in 2016) using a secondhand part. Alternately you can currently get a new unit from Olathe Toyota for $1134 (marked down from $1,716.21) and have your mechanic install it.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!
Is the mechanic hybrid proficient, and are they using techstream or something comparable to finish the job?

    FYI : you're moderated until you've posted 5 times.

I'm not close to Tampa but I appreciate the link for the part. It does look like the Ebay one is a dud since the braking is non-existent now.

There is no leak and the new brake fluid is DOT-3, according to the mechanic.

I don't know about dragging. They never felt like they were constantly on.

He's done some work on hybrids and used Techstream to flush the brakes.

I always worried about getting a used part off ebay, regardless of the warranty, there's no way to know if it works until you've spend 9 hours and $1k having someone install it. Are there any resellers that have a way of testing each unit and providing assurances that it actually works?

    Not that I've heard of.
Must say that 230 to R+R the actuator is a decent rate, especially since the mechanic is using techstream or similar. Buy new and reinstall?

We'll, I got the part on eBay and took it to the mechanic. After 6 hours, they said they couldn't fix it.

I got into the car and it was actually worse than before. Now the beeping was constant and you could not brake the car.

I told him to put my old part in and lo and behold, the beeping is still there and it doesn't brake.

I don't get it. How did putting my old part in that didn't beep and did still brake not at least put it to it's previous state?

Now I have different codes showing...

So far, this car has been a nightmare purchase.

If anyone can take a look at these codes and offer any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

After the first R&R, you had codes about pressure sensor readings. I wonder if some of the wiring/connections to the actuator weren't perfect after that job, and still aren't perfect after putting the old part back, therefore still the newer codes.

You have a new set of codes about the traction battery, but that'll keep for a while.

So it looks like I should just take it to a professional.

I was quoted at $3,500 in Jacksonville which kind of blows.

... which, though PriusChat changed the link to say Scottsburg Indiana, really did mean the Daytona location. :)

Not a PChat issue, more of a human issue, someone copied the old "title" into the new site. Prius genius, likely. SEO genius, not so much.
This should be the autobeyours Titusville (Daytona) address : 621 S Park Ave, Titusville, FL 32796

Best to call the cell (812) 820-5050 to confirm address and hours, as they may not have the 2nd location open full time.
