2010 Toyota Prius model II Head Unit Upgrade

Sorry another question, do the steering wheel controls still work with this Chinese unit? And can I use my iphone with it even though it is an android system? Would probably mainly stream BT music with it. Not sure about navigation...

 

You're asking about a 3 year old post. I don't know if the poster is still active. The unit you're asking about might not even be still available.

I replaced my original unit with an Advent OEM style HU. It broke and I recently installed a Klyde Prius specific HU. I'll start a thread this weekend.

BT music streaming should work, regardless of the OS of your phone BUT I found downward comparability with BT streaming isn't a given. After phone OS upgrades both my Samsumg phone and Apple phone stopped streaming music with my Advent unit.

Both stream fine with my new unit.

 

I purchased an android 10 head unit from Oknavi in China (thru Ali.). It is a brilliant unit with very sophisticated capabilities. It plugged straight into the Prius with the supplied cable and performs very well. I managed to fit it into the hole in the dash with the brackets taken off the old unit but cant get it to fit in the frame and console. Much sending of info to Oknavi over the 9 months or so but it seems they have no brackets designed for this model prius. They supplied the correct surround for the screen which fits into the console parts but I have no way of getting them all aligned.
Any suggestions much appreciated. It is a RHD uncomplicated gen3 out of Japan.

 

I have a 2012 Prius 3. I just got a new Samsung phone and when I connect it via Bluetooth it will work over the car speakers until I stop the car (gas, coffee stop, etc), and when I resume my trip I have to pair again. This didn't happen with my older phones - and they still show in the phones connected list (even though I have removed them several times). This makes me think that the Entune (I'm assuming this car uses Entune, it's what I've been reading but not entirely sure) operating system needs upgrading. I follow links to the download file to put on a USB dongle but none of these links work anymore, plus I want to be sure I am doing the right thing. You have several files attached here (thank you), so can you advise me if these are the ones that will work for my 2012 Prius? Or where I might go to find the updated files? This is all that I can think of to keep the system from forgetting my phone every time I stop the car because the phone is a brand new Samsung recent model (22+). Thanks for your help on this! It is so annoying to have to pair repeatedly on any given car drive!

 

1) Is there a reason or reasons that you chose the Pioneer avh-p4100dvd instead of something like the 7018b on amazon?
2) Do the steering wheel controls still work after the upgrade?
I thought about the 7018b because i put one in my work van with a backup camera and its been working great. Now every time my Prius volume button goes wacky I think, hmmm upgrade time?

 

Any update on this problem?

 

These directions were written in 2009. There are many newer and better head units to select from today.

 

I tried many different ways to fix this, none worked. I took it to the dealer and for $70 I got the software updated and it worked! I wish I hadn't messed around with all my (wasted time) on trying to fix it, but I wanted it for free. Glad it now works.
