Hello. While helping my son change a flat tire, I noticed his driver’s side front shock absorber boot was broken. Does he need to change it or can he keep driving the car like this? I do not feel the car needs this shocker changed. Steering still feels fine, but I am afraid that this will probably be an expensive job to get it fixed since we do not have the tools for something like this (See picture). 0D71B973-85CC-4612-9AE6-610B6F292C5B.jpeg

No need to do anything. Dust might get into the seals of the strut more easily, but it is not necessary to replace the boot unless the strut is worn out or it is leaking excessively. A slight weep is normal, since hydraulic oil must lubricate the seal the shaft rides on.
