Well the cheap 12v I got went dead for the second time and I wanted to go with a better one.

However when I bought the car the previous owner had already swapped the battery out and the terminal cables.

So I could not get the right AGM battery.
They said this 51R-EFB will work.

Let me know what you think.

Should I revert the cables to OEM
Then take the battery back and get AGM?

Keep the EFB battery and drive? Screenshot_2022-06-23-18-17-56.jpeg

i would reinstall the correct cables. those are from the days when there weren't any drop in replacements.
oem is still a good one at a 'reasonable' price and warranty

That 51R has the terminals on the wrong side. Try a 51 instead, preferably an AGM 51. In some brand lines, their AGM 51 is identical to their special Prius-specific battery, except the terminals---and price.

Since this battery sits inside of the car, it should only be a sealed AGM battery.

Use universal battery they can go inside I have one on my motorcycle they come in all kinds of crazy sizes I think the one I'm going to put in my Priuses around 60 bucks and they seem to last a long time they're like what go in the safety lights and buildings and things they come configured all different ways UB universal battery

Yes. The "universal" (U1-size) AGM battery I bought for $65 and installed over 7 years and 85k miles ago is still on the job in my Prius. In case it dies, I bought another one from Harbor Freight a couple of years ago.

Would a dealer battery for 4 or more times the price have served any better?

I seriously doubt it a Toyota battery I don't need Toyota doesn't make batteries they buy them from probably interstate maybe yuasa. But I highly doubt it and the real good batteries I used to get aren't even made anymore Deka I think. There are counterfeits of them but I don't see the original company and their batteries matter of fact I still have a deck of battery or two and one of my power sports pieces of equipment that still runs perfectly it gets tended during the winter and not so much in the summer and it always runs and starts just like my Cub cadet lawn mower got a battery and it has been in there about 10 years never fails to start and it's never tendered in the winter it just sits in the snow uncovered
