How much life left?

    Hey everyone, I'm a new member and I'm concerned about the remaining life of the hybrid battery in my car. In the name of being prepared, both for my current battery and the price/availability of lithium, I've got a Project Lithium battery on preorder to as we speak, but given my test results below, I am unsure on whether to keep the order or cancel it. Using the Dr Prius App, I've run 3 Life Expectancy Tests with varying results, which I have posted below.

    Vehicle Info: 2011 Prius 2 with 120,500 miles (3rd owner) from Florida

    Test #1: 59% (test ran with car cold, at night didn't really know what I was doing)
    Test #2: 56% (Test ran following morning, with car warm, in shade after researching procedures more)
    Test #3: 69% (Test ran immediately after the previous one)

    I was about to do Test #4 immediately following Tests #2 & #3, however the app told me the inverter was too hot to continue, so I drove the car around a bit and then shut it off, planning on conducting more tests tonight in cooler weather.

    The reason for doing all of this so quickly is because I'd like to make this decision before my Project Lithium battery ships & I am charged for it.

    When you do the dr Prius static test, what do the block voltages an resistance look like? Can you post a screenshot of that?

    You're doing nothing wrong by ordering the lithium battery if you're interested to keeping your car if you're going to have another Prius after you kill this one you just take the battery with you you know it's just a few bolts with normal wrenches that most folks have at their house so just be aware of that it's not a in-depth thing to take the battery out seriously The girls can do it if you will.

    How many OEMs have sometimes had issues with Lithium battery fires? Tesla, Chrysler, GM, etc. Has project lithium done more R&D than them? Will project lithium pay for a car that burns to the ground? A house?

    One of the "features" of the project lithium battery is that it allows more current to flow so you have quicker acceleration on battery. Can the prius inverter and motor/generator handle this long term?

    I'm all for people modifying their cars to improve performance in specific ways, but modifications usually come with trade-offs. I personally would not jump to a lithium battery as a daily driver factory replacement until there are 5+ years of data regarding its durability & safety

    And that certainly a personal choice No problem with that I don't see the lithium battery causing any serious problems I don't think we have enough serious cabling in the Prius to even take that kind of power as fast as it needs to go through the wire that is I would think if anything it would melt the Romex or the covering right off the wiring from getting so hot etc etc but I don't think the computer of the Prius will allow that it just allows much faster transfer of power up to a certain point probably or something along those lines but that's cool so the 5 years that you wait the technology will change and you'll miss that benefit if there was and if somebody had a car fire you'll say all thank God that wasn't me Cool I understand the pain clearly I've had a few uneventful small car fires so not really worried about it they were outside stuff was easily fixed and car was kept not a complete burner
