Hello- hoping to get some insight on this one.

Just invested 5k for installation of 45k miles used 1.8 L engine into my 2015 Prius with 294k miles.

After new engine put in, car runs great, like new actually - but I am getting the following warnings: dash message says Check hybrid system, with engine, triangle and other warning lights.

Is this a hybrid battery issue? Because my hybrid battery is under warranty.

Mechanic said hybrid battery is charging fine when driven, and it does change up when driving- only the animation is stagnant with the little arrows not showing - but the hybrid battery does go up- even without the animated charging arrows showing.

Any thoughts? I am wondering if there is merely a sensor somewhere causing these issues or if the car or software simply needs some kind of software update.

Please Prius Chat community - help me! What should I do?

Welcome to PriusChat! Your car is telling you - "I have a problem!" No one can say what that problem is or what it will take to repair it until you have all the ecu's on the car scanned to see what codes are stored.

Once you have codes, then we can give better advice as to what steps are next. Some codes directly point to common faults that are often fixed by parts replacement. Other codes can only point to a problem area or system, and will require further testing to figure things out.

You should take it back to the place that replaced the engine and have them
find the problem. If you didn't have the problem before the engine change, they might
of missed hooking up a connecter. Or damaged a wire.

2015 with nearly 300k miles, with a hybrid battery warranty? It's been replaced before?

Hi Rich, Your car's engine swap probably is related to this. Either from the car sitting for a while during the work or if this is right after you got the car back, there's old codes that need to be cleared that were triggered during the engine swap, perhaps a loose plug?

You can clear the codes / red triangle and see how long they take to come back by disconnecting the 12v battery for a few minutes. Maybe this is just a glitch/anomaly?

Just had the car scanned. Only two codes:

    Code1 P0012
    Code2 P0080

That's all. Car is running very well, but these warnings concern me.

Those codes are from a device that's not programmed with Prius-specific error codes, but general automotive codes, so I'd be wary of their accuracy. A cheap device like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265484403768 will allow you to use Prius-specific phone apps like Dr. Prius app.
