Toyota Tire Repair Kit w/ Air Compressor Adapter / Conversion / Convert / Hack

    I know that we live in a mostly disposable society, but I don't like to replace things when it can be repaired or repurposed....

    So with that -- Has anyone converted the Toyota Tire Repair Kit (Slime Bottle) + Air Compressor into a normal air compressor to use without the bottle? As designed, the air compressor can only used with the slime bottle. I've been using the air compressor with an empty bottle but after the n-th (9?) time plastic notches on the bottle which holds the bottle to the air compressor is worn out. As such, when the pump is engaged, the bottle pops off.

    I am failing miserably at web searches to see if anyone else as attempted to do convert the Tire Compressor Slime Kit. Have anyone run across any postings from some dark corner of the web...?

    I replaced my Toyota supplied kit with a small air compressor and a conventional tire plug repair kit. Both fit in the same holder as the Toyota kit.

    Have used the tire plug repair kit in the past on other vehicles to make temporary puncture repairs without dismounting the wheel from the vehicle. No mess from the foam to clean and nearly as easy a temporary repair.

    Slime makes a compressor similar to that without the slime bottle it's like $19 or something I have one sitting here but posting pictures is not fun and it works very well I haven't had any trouble with it but all of these little pumps after a while they wear out because the pump a car tire up to 40 PSI and what have you they get hot some of them will melt sometime Don't do it in the sun set slime or any of these little pumps under the car in the shade when you're running them the ones that look like a little spa pump now got a little cylinder sitting on top of it and all of that those seem to be the ones of choice that are lasting the longest I have one made by I don't know I think it's a husky thing they cost about 40 bucks but they seem to hold up a lot better The hose is replaceable and that kind of thing.

    That's easy. All you have to do is remove the bottle and connect the two hose ends.

    I wish it was that simple. Unfortunately, it looks like my pump is of a different design (from a 2020 Corolla Hybrid).

    IMG_20220819_230226432.jpg Mine doesn't have any hoses on the pump side, including inside the pump. It's all plastic and metal -- basically a pump/gauge block and a fan at the motor end, no rubber tubing. The connector from the pump is metal (see photo) which is about 5-7mm tall. The bottle plugs into the pump and the latches on the bottle side clicks into the rectangle slots on the pump side. As stated, earlier, the latches, being plastic has worn out. The Inner Diameter of the hose from the bottle is too small, such that it can't be forced onto the metal connector. But the OD of the hose large enough that it can be wedged into side the pump connector. However, I'm fairly sure that as soon as a it's connected to an inflated tire or the pump is turned on, the hose would just blow out of the connector with nothing like a clamp to hold it tight.
