So one of my 2005 Pri has 299,999+ miles (fun fact, it was formerly Rodney Kings daughter’s car) and I drove it from Colorado to Arizona and back. It made it but just barely. The day I returned, it started stalled out n then not starting.
    p3190 p3191 p0420 p0a0f

Then I thought I fixed it. Cleaned the mass airflow, throttle body , fuel injector cleaner, maybe added oil).

then it started throwing p0a0f again. So I pulled the hv battery to work on it.
Now I’m getting different codes every time I swap out a battery, even using a known good battery from Toyota. It’s getting really confusing w all these different codes. What is this pointing to?
    I’ve always had a p0420

    Had: p3190, p3191, p0a0f
Stalled out while driving, Wouldn’t go into ready at all. One click from relays in the back.
Thought I fixed it, then a week later p0a0f came back . Car “limped home”, removed hv battery.
    Then
    U0100, U0111, p0a0f
Car would flash ready light 2 or 3 times then go away, the typical three clicks from relays in the back go off as normal. Except if I try to start a 2nd time quickly, the last click is really slow and delayed, then ready light goes away, no start.

Cleared those, swapped battery w a known hood Toyota battery, then ready light comes on, car drives, but obd2 scanner shows no data for the hv battery, so I just moved it over a spot.
Then I put that good battery back In other car.

Just put in another (maybe poorly reconditioned) hv battery.
    Now.
    P3000, P3004, p0a0f
Back to 3 clicks, flashing ready light that goes away, doesn’t drive

It seems like no matter what I fix every time it’s some new code.but it sounds like a wiring/relay/fuse is not allowing communication with the hv battery. Is this correct thinking?

The P0A0F has 5 possible subcodes.
    The P3000 has 5
    The P3004 has 3.

    What are yours?

No techstream, just shitty little obd2 scanner and app :( I’ve tried before but getting a windows laptop with the right year OS and correct techstream version and the minivlc, something would always go wrong.

But I just read that dr Prius can read sub codes?! Is this true? If so, how?

and what do you make of the U codes. I’ve never seen that before in my life.

If you want a scantool app that's more capable then read the app review thread that's stickied at the top of the Gen2 Technical Discussion. There are several choices, a couple can read INF sub codes. (Dr Prius is good but not one of them).

It can be useful to know which ecu's set the U codes.

Also, there is no reason to post in 3 different places for the same problem. You're not going to have more people wanting to help because you have repeated your over and over.

Which OS do you currently have access to?
Not that I know of, but please share with us if you learn otherwise.

posted once, with a link to this one post in different places. I figured this is proper when referring to this post. Posting three different times would not be.

FWIW, I also have the impression you have cross-posted the same thing multiple times in multiple forums.

I have referenced this post in other posts that have the same issue using a hyperlink. Is this too frowned upon?

How the hell does this end up being the topic of my troubleshooting post?

Just to redirect any attention, getting codes P3000 and P3004 P0A0F, 3 relays clicks, Ready light flashes but then turns off. No start. Also no spark from jump points under the hood (i swear somehow that is significant).

If there are multiple threads for one problem, it makes it a pain in the butt to try and follow who said what and where. Especially if someone does a search for this problem later.

P3000- there's codes in the HV battery ecu, P0A0F- the ICE didn't start (likely because there's a problem in the hybrid system), P3004- power cable malfunction. Can you scan the battery ecu for codes?

The P3004 is what you should chase. In essence it means that the system turned on the main contactors (3 clicks) but it didn't see HV power at the inverter (hence it went "ready" then off).

Follow the service manual diagnostics for this code. You'll be checking the HV fuse, HV battery connections, the contactors (esp the HV connections) and so on.

What voltages are you getting for the 12v battery, both in the trunk and under the hood at the jump points?

For DTC P3000, have you checked for corrosion in the HV battery ECU socket / connector and the related sense harness?

In case you don't have access to the factory repair manual, here are a few workups for DTC P3004 with various INFs :
