Oil pan gasket slow weep

    Finally in a situation where I can change my own oil and filter on my Prius C. My Prius C is 10 years old and this is first time I’m able to diy with new garage access. Only 55k miles no noticeable oil on garage floor, but oil pan gasket seems to be weeping a bit. Has anybody changed the oil pan gasket on their C? Is it pretty straight forward or should I have it done? Thanks.

    I had bad threads on a Prius C drain plug and oil pans for Toyota are pretty much all the same and got one brand new for $30. But when it was time to do it after bolts of the pan were out I couldn't get the pan loose from the gasket sealant and the car wasn't high enough up in the air to get under there with lots of leverage and I would of bent the old pan pulling it off so I bailed on the plan and just used a tap & die kit to clean up the threads of oil drain bolt and now have a oil pan for Prius C that also works on Yaris, other Prius and more than I don't need. Do you want it?

    FelPro makes a traditional rubber gasket that I would likely use rather than the silicone goop.

    Thanks PriusCamper for the reply, but no thanks to the pan offer. Right now my pan still fine, larger gasket for top of pan likely issue.

    Hmm, the more I read and view oil pan gasket repair info, the more it looks like I should have it done by a mechanic. I don’t have the knowledge or equipment to raise the car very high. No noticeable oil level loss, just slight weep residue on the gasket area itself.

    After much reading and viewing I see it’s quite common to change the oil pan at the same time if the gasket goes. Thanks for prompting me to keep researching PriusCamper.

    Hmm further inspection in daylight may point to oil pump gasket or something else. It seems to be coming from above yet valve cover gaskets look ok.
