You're talking about using the spacer trick and these new spacers have a little piece of the catalytic converter brick right in the very end of the spacer and then your O2 sensor screws to that that may well work I have one sitting here that I was going to use on a Corolla that I did not use so I know it will fit the Prius I've had it for some years it's sitting right here in the drawer and I may try that on my Gen 2.09 that's my daily that's had the '020 code since the day after I bought it I believe it has the original cat on it someone tried to cut the pipe they barely got started I had that seemed up at my local exhaust shop buddy of mine runs and never looked back so my cat on this car is original. And maybe that could be the problem with near 300K on it.

You didn't fix the problem of your Prius creating more air pollution than it was designed to create. You simply prevented the sensor from working properly. As in if something bad happens to you because of global warming maybe you can "fix" that too? :)

But like me this guy has done everything you can do there's nothing else left right The two sensors the cat itself even if it's a cheap one it should still at least work for a minute with the light off something this light is staying on and never going off The code never goes away so it's as hard as they get. When I clear it just a few hours it comes back.
But like me I guess he's done all he can do converter sensors and now he has a if this is the same post he has a evap code which could be possibly causing the converter code but I kind of doubt it because I think the default for the evap system is to shut it down when it's not working so it's not pulling gases out of the canister I believe. Until the thing works right the sensor won't open or the solenoid won't open to let the gases come out of the carbon canister or it's equal. I don't have the evap issue I've checked I just have the 0420 code and there's nothing left to change or do on me I could change my converter but I did the same thing on my '05 and had the same result light on etc on the sniffer everything is clean and looks great.
