Alright so I placed the order and it took 2 days to get to my house.

    Part # 5631455

I never got a shipped email from Magnaflow and the Fedex tracking system they have is delayed in their system.

I had a $3,000 part standing not laying down on my porch today without knowing.

Some what small compared to what I was thinking, it is less than half the size of the complete part from toyota.

Which if the OEM was available I would have bought that compared to this.

Has the numbers needed but I would imagine it will be hard for a smog tech to see since the numbers will be facing the roof when installed.

Also the good thing is, it looks like a cheap aftermarket from ebay and if any thief wants to take a chance, they may leave knowing it has already been replaced and not OEM anymore.

I would think something of this price should only be delivered with signature if someone is there and not just dropped off.

Do I think it is worth the money, well no
    .
Do I need a legal catalytic converter to pass smog in california, yes.

There is no ETA on any OEM cats.

No Magnaflow markings only CARB numbers needed to pass smog in California, serial number and the manufactured date.

    Mine is stamped 8/22

Thanks for sharing; it’s always interesting to see the actual product and not just the documentation.

I like the smiling converter on the recycling ad (PDF), but for this product, I’m not sure why they bother: $75 isn’t much for one from a Prius car, and I imagine most of their customers are replacing a stolen part, anyway.

I wish trust me I love saving money.

Maybe after this I can talk to them and get a code then everyone else will be able to benefit.

I tried to save where I could and was able to save about $380 using a c.c. offer.

    Free shipping helps

Keep us updated with install and visibility of the CARB certification. What do you think the outcome would be if the smog tech were to inspect it under the car, unable to see the markings?

OBD sounds like it’s good but what’s the use if the markings are hidden when installed?

having this situation currently as of this morning with my gf’s 2015. Planning on having incredibly long lead times on OEM via shops replacing.

thanks for the info so far, very helpful.

    Today was the perfect day...

Called a local shop in my area and he squeezed me in today on my day off.

Been planning this for a long time.
Ordering parts for a prius that toyota no longer makes parts for.

A part from amazon was fake but I tracked down authentic Denso sensors from another site.

I will add those part numbers later.

Got the magnaflow installed along with the front sway bar links that hybrid pit told me needed to be changed and Im glad I got them changed because it makes a difference.

I got those at Autozone with lifetime warranty.

Only got charged $263 for the labor.

OEM cat looks worse than when I picked up my car from hybrid pit a year ago.

Check out my thread when I was getting my engine from hybrid pit.

There is a picture of my oem cat back then
Looked a lot better then than now.

I will attach a picture as it looks today.

So right away I noticed the ease in power
The ICE gets up to speed much faster without pushing the gas pedal as I used to.

The RPM's are about 400-600 lower than before in the speed ranges and areas driven that I always use.

I can feel power in the seat now in ECO.
Temps go down fairly fast compared to the 12 year old oem cat that was bad and I had the P0420 code but had cheap aftermarket O2 sensors so who knows but my fresh rebuilt engine shouldnt be driven with the bad cat any longer and it was time.

The smog place if they want can do what they need to get a look at the numbers.
The are on the top of the cat so you can not see them from the bottom.

Either way my cat is legit CARB compliant. View attachment 231316 View attachment 231317 20220913_132715.jpeg

Here are pictures of the OEM cat.

The first one is when Hybridpit did my engine a year ago.

The second one is today when I replaced it.

And the third is the back end which looks and is better than both times of the front end.

The way life works is just so funny.

I just noticed that on this very day last year is when I actually towed my prius to HybridPit to get the engine replaced.

Strange and not planned at all, had two days off from my new job for an appointment that got canceled last minute

So did this instead last minute.

Also I do not know why sometimes pictures I upload get locked?

Here is a picture of the exhaust manifold when hybridpit removed my old engine.

The second one is the exhaust manifold today when replacing the cat.

Hey Grit always a pleasure getting your fabulous input in your replies.

As always I do try to get deals for everyone not just myself.

Sadly I did not make a deal with MagnaFlow and I paid a hefty price to keep my prius legal in California.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know when my code doesnt work okay.

The secondary cat on the Magnaflow appears to be shorter but a larger diameter than the OEM cat. I'm wonderig how much more it hangs down than the OEM cat and if it is vulnerable to road damage.

There will be no issues with it being bigger.

The heat exchanger hangs lower than it.

Also on a side note, I checked a few days ago if MagnaFlow was still in stock and they are not.

You have to sign up to get notified on when they will be back in stock.

I did that almost a year ago and the day I got the email I placed my order.

Pricey but if you live in Cali it is the only legal one allowed.

Wow...one of the sites I placed an order for the OEM cat, they had the charge drop because there was no ETA and they called me yesterday to say they have the part in stock.

Great after I already paid double the price!!!

I am still happy with the legal MagnaFlow.

I am also noticing a different sound from the engine that I didnt notice before install of the new cat.

Makes me want to change the air intake..

This is the one that I'm suing on my 2012 Prius v. It fits perfectly. Removing the original filter box allows me to free HPS on Prius v completed install.jpg occ installed Prius V 003.jpg the space for my OCC in an ideal place.
