We received our Covid bivalent shot yesterday and will get our flus shot at a community clinic this Saturday.

Sounds like back to mask and handwashing this winter.

After a recent run in with Covid for our family it gives me great comfort to have everyone vaccinated with the new Covid vaccine.
None of us got real sick but I often think of our somewhat young neighbor (40's) who caught Covid and it developed into long Covid with a 4 month hospital stay and assistance from a ventilator. That virus and its effect on our organs is so unpredictable it is a bit frightening to come down with Covid.

 

That bivalent booster (only Pfizer was available at Walmart) was a real doozer. (Says the person who hasn't caught COVID yet)....

Had some kind of crud that lasted 1½ days, about a week ago. Using a couple home tests, they indicated it wasn't covid. Was it dust? Allergies? food? Old age? Too much to drink? Baaah - me thinks it best to go back to ol' fashion riding it out.

 

Pfizer was what I got, and I experienced no more than a mildly sore arm, and that possibly just because of having two jabs' worth of stuff squirted into it on the same day.

 

Had a dental appointment, The office only required the unvaxxed to wear a mask. The medical staff was wearing. Bending over people's open mouths all day, maybe they should have always been doing so. Maybe they were.

Use to get the flu every year as a kid. You are completely free to ride it out, bed ridden for week, if you want.

I received the bivalent Pfizer-BioTech version in one arm, and the quadrivalent flu in the other arm, Friday. The next morning, the covid arm was just barely sore enough to know that something happened, if I thought about it, while the flu arm felt nothing. We did have covid-omicron eight months ago.

At the same time, spouse had three shots (including Tdap) in the same arm, and felt more significant soreness.

She got hers while in the office for another medical appointment, as I did last year. But my provider doesn't have any vaccination time slots open near me until just after Christmas. It does have plenty of immediate slots open elsewhere, with a significant drive, correlating approximately to blue-purple-red voting patterns. The nearest pharmacy had plenty of next-day slots, but co-pays for the non-covid vaxxes because my provider isn't running the same partnership program it did last year. The flu co-pay seemed worthwhile to avoid driving to a 'free' shot, but I held off on the Tdap.

 

i thought medicare covered the flu no matter where?

 

I'm not yet of medicare age.

 

Something to keep in mind about the free flu shots is that sometimes the only flu shot provided is the regular flu shot.

That happened to me at our community flu shot Clinic two weekends ago. The flu shot was free and professional administered - only the regular flu shot was being offered at the Clinic. I took a pass since I am over 65 and wanted the Senior Flu shot - the other members of the house did get the regular flu shot.That Monday I was able to get the Senior Flu shot at Kroger. Medicare pays for my flu shot.

This may be economics as the over 65 flu shot is more expensive.

Some of us do get there, its better than not getting there.

Yep .... sounds like many folks covId symptoms ....... some are horror stories & some - nothing at all ....

TDap is known to hurt.

I had 3 Moderna prior. Just soreness around the injection site. For my parents they had their 4th dose a while back but I asked to switch them from Pfizer to Moderna. They said they felt effects maybe it had to do with switching. (I wanted to give the virus a "different look").

I got the bivalent Pfizer around 2:30 pm, (walk in at Walmart). We're so blessed to have such easy accessibility. They are always so careful with me because my records show I've fainted. I did not even feel anything when the needle penetrated my arm through when it was withdrawn. Just 15 mins later I felt something. That night general malaise. The morning I felt bad. I walked into/bumped my face on an open door frame, smearing facial oils onto my right eyeglass lens. Felt like I had the flu, aches in all joints....

About 24 hrs after I was better. Maybe that evening a little lingering side effect but completely gone by next day.

bivalent yesterday at 2:30pm, woke up at 1:30 this morning in agony, worse when i dragged myself out of bed at 8:00am.
2 extra strength tylenol has helped a lot, still achy, but much better. even my eyeballs hurt
