My sun visor has started to malfunction, I can get it to hang straight down but can’t push it any further towards the window. It’s useless. I’m looking for recommendations for cheap replacements.

I’ve been to a few and the visors have all been missing. I’m hoping to find some kind of aftermarket replacement for $20

when you say you can't push it toward the windshield is the issue that it won't stay in that forward position or does it not even go past straight down?

There must be a way to tighten things up if the visor is loose. I recall seeing someone use pliers to pinch the visor right by the hinge to make it grip a little tighter. I wonder about some kind of tape on the other end or some way to make the plastic retaining clip a little tighter

It’s not loose. It refuses to go past straight down. The passenger one has notches, like predetermined settings for different positions. The drivers side just gets bound up at straight down. I don’t know if it could be disassembled and repaired or not. I’m very surprised that there isn’t an after market option. I’m also very surprised that this question hasn’t come up on priuschat before.

That helps but it’s not enough

Mine doesn’t seem to have notches but there must be some kind of cam shape to the rod it pivots on because it snaps close to the headliner. So you have a touring model?

your original post was pretty clear by the way. I asked a question you had already answered

My 2005 Prius has a similar issue, drivers side visor. I took it out and looked at it, opened it up a little, my take was I could not really tighten it up. As mine was failing to stay up, I glued a small piece of Velcro to the headliner to hold it up. Replacement visors seem to be pricy!!

I meant to check this out and see if the visors in question could be flipped left to right temporarily. If that works, then the drivers side that can't get to the windshield would have to stay up against the windshield on the passenger side. You loose your vanity mirror as its on the wrong side. its a longshot to fix, but maybe worth taking out a few screws
