Well, I hope SaskBattery gave you some sort of warranty. There is incentive for a seller to give you a quality product or risk paying for a new battery if you claim warranty.

Canadian Tire is close by and has a 5-year free replacement warranty. I would have bought mine from Costco if they sold Prius 12V batteries. Too bad Costco doesn't carry them.

The CT option is $272 now. But yeah still worth considering. Keep in mind with SaskBattery: unless you’re in Saskatchewan I guess, they don’t charge PST.

I bought mine from CT for $249.99 + $20 core + tax - $50 eCTM promo - 3% eCTM with CT credit card - $60 by selling off old battery on Kijiji. Surprisingly, I got 2-3 people willing to buy the used battery within a week.

    CTM = CT Money

I also bought a 8A smart charger (that has a setting for AGM batteries) from China (AliExpress) for 31USD, but I don't think I will ever need it.

Well that was back a while; I went through the thread, trying to track the Canadian Tire price reports. Dealerships are similar, 'cept their increases are kinda logarithmic...:

If you want to see a price history chart for Canadian tire, visit http://www.stocktrack.ca, pick Canadian Tire tab, pick type=search for "S46B24R", and punch in your postal code. Then mouse over your Canadian store for price graph. See attachment.

    https://stocktrack.ca/?s=ct&q=0105122

In Toronto, the Canadian Tire store had below prices:
    2020-11-10 $228.99
    2020-11-18 $248.99
    2021-08-11 $250.99
    2022-10-24 $271.99

The last price date looks incorrect, but there is sort of a history. You can basically see a price history of several stores here.

If SaskBattery can no longer source the Yuasa (per @Rocky Mountain Priusman's posting), I may go for the Canadian Tire battery. Last time I checked with local dealership they were asking $340 CDN. $272 still saves a chunk-o-change.

I have been buying batteries through CT a few times in the last few years, typically when playing CAA guy for relatives/friends, and they seem to be lasting. I suspect under the various badges there aren't that many actual manufacturers. And for common cars the batteries are physically (at least) indistinguishable.

For Honda, regular lead-acid batteries through CT are still around $135~165, depending on warranty. Just recently got their longest warranty lead-acid battery for an older Corolla. Don't have the bill, but reverse engineering from the number on my credit card statement (Taking off the $20 core charge, and deducting 12% sales tax from the remainder), it was around $142 (CDN).

I have a 2017 Prius in need of a 12v battery today. The original battery held out until the end.

As an update on the Prius battery, today I priced one in Winnipeg from the Toyota dealer at $404.49 plus taxes, not including the installation costs as I've been waiting for over four hours for a service department return call.

My local trusted Toyota specialist garage sourced a quality aftermarket battery at $272.30, not including the installation costs. I'll go with these guys as they've always done right with my other vehicles.

Sask Battery does carry Prius batteries, I only reached out by email and did not get the price.
