This Thursday (10/20/22) my 2006 silver trim package 5 Prius with 688k miles gave its life to save my passenger and myself. We were hit head on by a heavy loaded semi hauling a double trailer, at 65 mph. We both WALKED away. The passenger has zero injuries and I have MINIMAL injuries. A fracture in my hip socket, broken pinky toe, and a lot of torn muscles in my chest. People just don’t walk away from accidents like this. I think I should stop joking that I’m a cat… I always land on my feet… because I def lost a life 2 days ago. I’m down to like 7 now . But so many people saw the car and were surprised that no one was seriously hurt, now they are considering a Prius lol. These are people that have made fun at my little car, calling it a tin can all these years. I am definitely going to miss it.

Glad to hear everyone is mostly fine.
Please tell us about the maintenance requirements for vehicle in the last 475k miles.

    FYI : you're moderated until you've posted 5 times.

That sounds pretty terrible actually. Is this a hairline fracture, or was there bone displacement?

That said, those are miraculously few injuries after a head on with a semi. Honestly, I don't see how you lived through that, let alone walked away. Which vehicle was doing 65, yours, the semi, both? Even if it was just your car doing 65 and the semi was barely moving, that is nearly equivalent to running into a steel wall at that speed, which would usually be fatal for everybody in the vehicle.
