What is this cable?

I replaced my inverter coolant pump, and while I was under the hood, found this cable that wasn’t attached to anything. What is it? Should it be plugged back in, and if so, where? Thank you in advance.

That looks to me like a two-position connector that is plugged on purpose into a blanked socket (rubber weather seals in both places where wires would go). You might see something like that for an option your car didn't come with.

From the position and shape, it looks like connector E3 (at least that's what a 2006 wiring diagram calls it), for the hood opening courtesy switch. In your car, can you make the alarm sound by popping the hood after arming?

As far as I know, the alarm is totally disarmed in my vehicle. I’ve only had it for a couple months, but it hasn’t gone off. It sounds like I can just leave it chillin?
