Important disclaimer. We'll have to wait for the U.S. press release.

Agreed, I like the looks of it a lot, and the increased power is cool too. I’m wondering how much these improvements will drive up the price though.

I read about it on CNN online and came over here.

They STILL have the gas fill on the passenger's side. Nope. Looks like I have to wait.

I hate the console divider, keep hoping they will return to the open look I have in Carmine.

LOWER? I live in snow country; northeastern Massachusetts. I already have days I can't venture out due to my car being too low to the ground, and the snow is too deep. I have less than 6 inch clearance now. Lower is much worse.

Carmine is just going to have to keep on going. Nothing here for me. Sad.

The G4 has it on the driver side and the EV port on the passenger side.

I can't imagine why the fuel door side would matter to anyone. Actually, having it on the passenger side is probably better since fewer cars have it that way making more open pumps for you, if you want to use gas to operate your car.

I don't know about Colorado. Around here, there are always lines at the gas pumps. Having the fill cap on the passenger side means you are going against traffic, in the wrong line (you are in the exit line) and it creates many problems. The result is tons of honking horns. A few years ago, many people were ditching cars simply because the fill is on the wrong side.

"Actually, having it on the passenger side is probably better since fewer cars have it that way making more open pumps for you," this makes no sense. They are all the same pumps! You are pulling in the wrong way, against traffic, to get the pump on the passenger side.

"if you want to use gas to operate your car" Carmine is a hybrid. It relies on gas to operate. Once traveling over 11 mph(I think that is right, not sure), the engine kicks in if and when needed. I'm not interested in the wholly electric versions, at this time.

Really, overall your comment makes me wonder if perhaps you are not in USA, even tho your info says you are in Colorado.

Huh? They don't have double-sided gas pumps in MA like they do everywhere else?

I don't understand what you're talking about. Around here, gas lines look like this. Everyone goes the same way, on both sides of the pumps. And notice that the line for the passenger side fill up is shorter.

    upload_2022-11-16_8-52-37.png

And, regardless, it doesn't matter which side of the car the filler door is on. Every pump I've ever seen has a hose long enough to reach to the opposite side of the car. In fact, despite my fuel door being on the driver side, I usually use the pump on the passenger side of the car simply because there are usually more spaces available that way.

You should be, or at the very least a PHEV. My last gas fill up was on a road trip to a wedding over memorial day.

    I am a third-generation native of Colorado.

I love the physical buttons for climate control. One of the this I like least about the G4 Prime is going through the touch screen to make adjustments.

Oh. I see what you mean. That is very odd, to me. Around here, that middle line would be facing the camera. The whole line. Having 1 car needing to be the other direction is never easy. We would never leave a lane open, and be lined up in the other 2 places. We just drive around on the outside and come in the other way. Making another line.

As for PHEV, did not know what that meant, I had to look it up. Interesting! Carmine was bought new in 2008, only has 94,000 miles on it, still getting 48 mpg. Not interested in a new car until it makes sense. A PHEV sounds like it would be perfect for me! Carmine can hold 3 barrels full of leaves and branches, to haul to the city dump. (I put the back seat down to fit the 3rd one). So I need to be able to fit 3 barrels. (I make at least 15 trips per year, some in Spring, some in Autumn.) And the fuel intake on the driver side. And the ground clearance. Among other things.

My Prius Prime PHEV is driven 99% on electricity when I'm in-town. On road trips out of state, it tends to be about 80-90% on gas but I still charge when I can. I used 19 gallons to go from Denver to Las Vegas and back. I've used 37 gallons of gas this year, all on two out-of-state road trips. The only two times I've filled up in my state are when leaving on those two road trips. All the rest of my energy has come from my garage or similar electric sources, or out-of-state gas stations.

Just use the long hose to fill up from the "wrong" side. I do that anyway, as a matter of choice. I've never seen a hose that didn't reach.

    From the press release:

This model is equipped with two 100 VAC / 1,500 W accessory power outlets; one at the back of the center console and one in the cargo space. Users can select the BEV external power supply mode, which uses power from the battery only without having to start the engine, or the HEV external power supply mode, which recharges the battery from the engine if the remaining power is too low. It also comes with an external electric power supply attachment as standard so that external power supply is possible with the door windows closed to prevent rain and insects from getting in the car when in use.

If those two 1,500 watt outlets can be used simultaneously, that would equal the power of typical plug-out systems people have been retrofitting into earlier Prii.

Even if it's just 1,500 watts total, that's still not shabby.

There's no US press release yet?

I'm interested in battery gross and usable capacity, Cd and frontal area, whether the cargo compartment is flat and whether or not the front passenger seat folds flat against the rear folded seat like is has in the last three generations.

Embargoed until 6:30 Pacific tonight. But I can tell you it is very light on specs. You're not going to find out that information yet.

I'll start a thread soon to get suggestions on things to ask and look for when I'm at the press drive in early December.

To have get the traffic flow you describe, people would have to come in from station's natural exit, or loop around.

Here, stations on main roads mostly have people enter through the first entry reached when traveling on the road side the station is on, then out the second one when done. So traffic through the station is going one way.

Corner stations and other ones with out the natural flow to them generally don't have such back ups around here.
Sounds like Japan only. The inverter widget for the current PHV never left the island.

Indeed. Here's my local Costco, where I used to fill up when I used gas. It's one-way, right-to-left.

Few stations are that formal, but the street traffic flow tends to encourage it.

Most of the stations around here have one entry/exit on each road. These are also a few blocks from the Costco.

At a Stop & Shop (grocery store) gas station in MA they had a pump that would not reach over the Prime to fill on the "wrong" side. Worse, I backed into the pump (there were lineups on the on all the driver side fill pumps and noone on the passenger side fill), and they turned off the pump so I couldn't fill up. As soon as I pulled away, I looked back and saw the attendent re-activated it.

Gas cap side depends on where the exhaust is. If the exhaust is on the passenger side, the gas cap will be on the driver's side and vice versa. This is done so that if there's a spill, it won't get ignited by the hot exhaust. Obviously this won't matter if the car has dual exhaust.

I read or heard somewhere that the door handles for the rear doors are similar to the C-HR.
