Last reply. You clear the codes you don't get a free repair.

Still don't understand "You clear the codes" If I have and independent mechanic run a scan it is his scanner . Let someone else explain if they are so inclined.

Or if you don't want to deal with all this nonsense you can go by LKQ and get a late Gen 3 inverter which will have all the updates should have it'll cost you about 80 to $100 for the whole part in about what guys 2 hours at most to bolt in that probably be my route so I don't have to deal with the dealer and all the nonsense that goes with it just driving over there is a pain for me I can get the LKQ quicker so if I can get an updated part that has all the new parts in it already from a junk car the failure rate on these isn't high enough to be that worried about it I would pay the $100 with the dealer I'm going to wind up paying something some kind of way as most always you do even if it's only $50 to sit in the waiting room or drink their coffee or whatever the hell my time to drive over there is worth more than what generally happens over there my drive over to LKQ is close and pretty much free and most of the parts I get from there are extremely cheap so.

No you tell your independent mechanic do not under any circumstances hit the clear button when you're finished If he looks uneducated or stupid say it again Make him repeat it back to you if you're allowed around and while he's working remind him before he looks like he's getting ready to stop everything sir don't hit the clear button you need to go to the Toyota dealer with codes displaying out your OBD2 port that the Toyota dealer can see with their their computer system If you don't you're going home unrepared not on anybody's done but your own That's what they mean by don't clear the codes Tell your mechanic not to clear the codes better yet you read your codes with a scanner that you own or borrow write them down don't hit the clear button unplug the scanner give it back to your friend and then go to the dealer if that's what's in order with the codes you read

What rjparker meant is that the warranty extension uses what trouble codes are present to decide if you are covered or not.

As long as the right codes are present, and you go to a dealer without clearing them, the dealer will see those codes present, and you will be covered.

If you clear the codes first, and show up at the dealer without the right codes present, they will see that you don't have the codes, and you won't be covered.

By "pull the power" he meant disconnect the 12 V battery (or pull certain fuses, or anything that cuts off power to the memory in the car's ECU where the codes are stored). The reason for not doing that is, the codes get cleared. So then you are in the same boat as if you had cleared them on purpose.

Oh it's a big junkyard that operates throughout the United States I don't know what their logo stands for just Google LKQ and it's a big outfit I'm pretty sure Coast to Coast maybe not but they're just a large salvage operation you can also get these inverters from the JDM importers they bring in all the fancy engines and parts for the people who build all the sky lines and things like that That's another kind of Japanese car like they import the 3S Beans engines and all that kind of thing

That is clear enough. Thanks where can I get my own scanner that will do this? My understanding is most scanners don't read hybrid.

It's near the end of the month. Some of us didn't insult enough people two or three weeks ago, and now we have to kind of rush to make quota.

Was that insulting oh I just thought it was kind of funny whatever it's all good just don't clear the codes it's a simple thing you have to push a button to make them go away allow them to stay it's like your proof required for court to get out of your ticket you wouldn't throw that in the trash and walk into court to see his honor.

It's Tombukt2 mumbling into a speech-to-text app. Your guess what it means is as good as mine.
