After selling my Gen 3, I just purchased a 2016 Prius Four with 75k miles.

I noticed the HUD seems out of focus. I cleaned the lens/cover but this didn’t fix the issue. It’s almost as if it’s displaying double. Is there a fix for this? Also, is there a left to right display adjustment? I know it adjust up and down but could not find an adjustment for left to right. The speed is all the way to the right and if I’m not sitting perfectly center, the speed is cut off from the framing.

Lastly, do the 2016’s burn oil like the Gen 3’s did? My 2010 would burn about 1 qt every 2k miles. Is this something I need to watch out for?

    Thanks

Unfortunately it seems that somebody installed the wrong windshield on that car. There's a specific one for models with the HUD. If the wrong replacement windshield is installed you'll see double. I don't know what you can do about that if you bought it used unless the dealership you bought it from were the ones who replaced the windshield and it was part of your purchase agreement (for example when I purchased a used 2016 a few years ago it had a crack in the window when I test drove it and I had to wait a couple of days after signing the paperwork for them to find the right windshield because mine had a HUD as well). Once they've got the right windshield in they can calibrate it a little more but I'm not sure how far left/right wiggle room they have. The important thing is getting the right window installed.

So far there haven't been reports of oil burning in the Gen 4 engines. They've been pretty reliable. Most I've seen here are reports of a coolant leak into the heat exchange which has been misdiagnosed as a much more expensive blown head gasket. If you see coolant loss and white smoke out of the muffler that's probably what is causing it. The parts can take a while to get but there are some affordable DIY work arounds on the forums here to bypass it while you wait for the replacement parts if your local dealer is able to repair under warranty.

Ah I didn’t even think of it possibly being the windshield. Good to know. Thank you
