I'm driving up to Dallas soon to check out a used 2013 Prius V, and I'd like to have a mechanic check it out before purchasing. The owner requires inspections to be done on site, and since I'm unfamiliar with the area, I was wondering if anyone has a mobile mechanic recommendation in DFW?

Driving from San Francisco to Dallas to look at a Prius?

Most mobile mechanics know little about a Prius. This hybrid generation has many potential problems including excessive oil burning, frequent head gasket failures that can be temporarily hidden with sealer, defective brake booster systems (brake by wire) and bad egr and pcv designs. Along with the expected high voltage battery expense. When the inverter strands you Toyota will pay for the replacement.

But overall this car is a flawed design; the best advice requires no mobile mechanic - don't even look at it. Or be ready to invest $10k in repairs unless you are a skilled hybrid mechanic.
