I have a 2013 Blizzard Pearl. I got a notification for this issue just a few days ago.

I have had no problems with the paint peeling after 10 years of ownership.

but who knows. We will see.

Technically the coverage for me is over by June 13, 2025 or applicable for 10 years from the vehicle’s date of first use regardless of mileage.

Per Customer Support Program ZKG Notification.

Will keep an eye out for this problem.

Is Toyota really going to cover this? That would be AWSOME.

Can you post an image of your notice with the relevant personal info redacted?

Does this indicate that Toyota is now covering prius paint as well?

My discussion with a paint supplier came up with about two qts. to cover the tops of the doors and the roof. Roughly $200 worth of 3 stage paint (base, pearl, clear). I suspect that the door peeling has to do with the doors flexing a bit when the window is rolled up.

One thing though, will a repaint be seamless, and will there be further flaking? Frustrating debacle.

The paint (Pearl White #070) on my 2013 3rd Generation Prius started to peal mid-December 2022 with a few 'patches' on the passenger-side front & rear door. Note that this is the side facing south (and the Californian) sun when parked at work & home, and that pealing started during the heavy rainy season . I went to the dealer late December 2022 and the manager told me 'we will fix it'; he took pictures, called a body shop for an estimate, and submitted a request for repair to Toyota HQ. In the following month, the 'pealing patch' has expanded significantly. I went back last week to the dealer, and the car has now been in the shop for a week for repaint. I believe that Toyota has issued a bulletin about that issue with the #070 Pearl White paint that covers the repair at no cost if there is no body damage

You must have gotten lucky. I was on a wild goose chase between 2 Toyota dealers. One led me down a dead end. The other finally led to me being told that Toyota will not warranty this, even though there was no impact. So, I took it to a body shop. The owner took one look at it and said he won't touch it, and neither will others. This is because taping would peel off more paint. He said that white is a bad color, Toyota and some other makers are not getting the white paint to adhere to the primer coat properly. I asked him for his advice, and what he said was "get some touch up paint, make it look as good as you can, and sell it."
I don't plan to do that, because i can't replace this car with anything better. So, I order the touch up paint, do the work, and see if it continues to peel. If the car peels in other places, I'll simply have the whole car repainted, as long as it's running good. This is a 2010, so I'm not planning to pursue Toyota any longer. Suffice it to say, I don't want another one.

I just ordered touch up paint, primer, and gloss coat, all spray cans from Exact Match Car
Paint. It came to just under $90 with shipping.
