Hey, so I have a 2005 Prius (base model) with 2 newish batteries. The hybrid battery has less than 70k miles and the 12v battery is 1 year old. I've had some work done at a mechanic recently and when I got the car back, the energy monitor freezes once the battery reaches the half way point and the activity arrows don't show up as often as they used to. I've read that a disconnected temperature sensor can be the issue off of the 12v battery but I'm not sure. From what I've read here on this forum; that seems to fix the issue if it's a Gen 3 Prius but I'm not sure if a Gen 2 Prius has a temperature sensor on the 12v battery and if it does, where is it located?

So we need to figure out what vehicle you have first so then look in the generation to forum and the generation 3 forum what does your car look like that would be the best place to start in foreign countries in 2010 was still a generation two in some places kind of funny In America the generation 2 ended in mid-2009 and then the generation 3 came out It is a completely different looking car every body panel on the car is completely different there are a lot of features and options added so I'm sure that won't be difficult I think both of the systems have temp sensors to the batteries they actually stick in the top and bottom or whatever of some cells things like that I never play with this stuff when my battery goes bad I get a a shop that specializes in rebuilding batteries to either build me a battery or I buy a $1,400 brand new one from Toyota put my computers to it and let it rip hopefully another 12 or 13 plus years I don't generally waste time with doing a lot of battery fixing it's time consuming and I need my vehicles maybe you don't and you have the time. If my multifunction display is messing up it's the big thing right in the middle of the dash above the radio that's a generation too The screen on a generation 3 is part of the stereo it has silver or black trim around it it's flush with the buttons almost etc It looks way different both vehicles take the same battery rack as far as the high voltage battery goes and as far as the 12 volt goes they will swap over so not a lot of changes there The changes are the exterior and interior of the car what human sees not what's under all of what you're looking at a lot of that is very similar.

A 2005 definitely qualifies as a Gen 2. I'm thinking you've posted in the wrong thread.
That ~$1400 price you got was a one-off sale price only seen on that occasion and not likely to be repeated. The usual price (if they are in stock) would be $1650 to $1950 at their cheapest. Lately, the price is more like $2200 and up.

It is fantastic you got such a great price, but it is not really fair or representative to be offering that as a typical price to other prospective buyers.

Okay well I'll check around here again but that was before all the hubbubs started right before the pandemic was in full swing or just at the very beginning and that was Rick Hendrick's regular price if you bought online and I just went on for a couple of months I do know that for a fact because I was watching them talking about it driving my car with a failing battery thinking yeah blah blah blah. And then went online after hemming and hawing and BSing around. Push the button and it was still 1435 they going to put close to three grand on my credit card till the return which is going to be the same day but they have to look at it and approve it and that was about it and I asked the parts guy while I was there I said yes this a normal thing so if you buy it online that's what you going to pay I said okay off if I went. I did get the impression from them that they would not accept a trade from the green beans and the hybrid battery manufacturers with their sticker and painted green covers and all that nonsense so I made sure I took the battery rack and cover with Toyota only stickers on it never touched by anybody or it didn't look that way no markings on the top of the cellss and that sort of thing. Then as far as I know the price went back up to the 1699 on the internet or something like that and then I haven't looked in a while then all the shortages and the problems started happening with supply chain and well then you pay what you pay under those conditions luckily I got to miss that. I'm sure at some point the price will come back down and if not some of the better battery rebuilders like the guy up in Virginia do very good work. So yeah I guess we'll chalk that up to luck
